most machines including some of the santenellis i,ve used can cut a small b measurement , but you have to get a special smaller chuck.

    Yep!
I am only using the half chuck on the lens and the machine itself
I am looking for the machine that can do a job with a B=16-17 mm!
    Does this sounds like fun?

    Hi,

I made 10 pcs. of blocks in smaller diameter (13 mm) from an inch diameter x 4 inches long round ABS rod. ABS rod = 4 dollars.

First, I will find the center point from the round rod and mill down 3.05 mm deep and 3.05 mm wide horizontal groove.

Second, drill a 2.5mm hole on 3.65 mm above the center point and must be 90 degree from the horizontal groove.

Third, lathe down to desired diameter from the one inch round ABS rod. Then, cut off by saw. Here are all my small blocks for Santenelli edger.

I believe it should cost you less than $20 each from your local machine shop for the labor.

lenny what you need to do is trace the frame hit data set, at this time add about 3 mm of size to your layout. Once this cuts , go ahead and retouch it 1 mm at a time. Be carefull to watch your lmu arms that they dont hit the cup holders. You should be good

This is exactly what i usualy do!
The problem is that the metal holders touch the stone.
If it is a CR39 its easier to finish by hand but i have a lot of polys!

    Back to my original question

So which machine can cut the smallest B measurement?

If you're looking to do 16-17 mm, I don't think so. Only by hand edgers (patern edgers .... the one where you rotate the dial until you get the right fit). The new Briot Axcell CLD boast it can do a 17.75 mm B. I have not use this machine. Take it for what its worth.

    Small b

    Lenny ,

From what I've been told by my Gerber-Coburn rep the Kappa can be changed to do a B measurement smaller than 16 . Good Luck whatever you do .

    Dan

P.S. Did you ship those patterns yet???
