    vsp Inspire lens

Just rec'd some info on the Inspire and Inspire HD lenses, looks like a VSP has a private label lens. Only VSP members can order this lens, made by Essilor.
Has anyone used this lens as of yet?????

Sounds suspiciously like the VSP/Carl Zeiss partnership for the Reveal Lens and Reveal FreeForm. That lens is only available in the Southern and Western US through VSP labs.

Where is the Inspire available to order?

    Bah Humbug!

    Capture ratios...Private label lenses...

Why not try to compete on the open market like the rest of us indies!

If it sounds like sour grapes, it's because I especially don't like the possibility that private, Non VSP ECPs will be paying a higher price for what is, by all intents and purposes, similar lens technology as Reveal & Inspire. Subsidizing these lens manufacturer's ability to offer lower pricing to VSP and other large chains is not within my latest business plan.

    Thoughts?

    Yes,

We recieved the same packet last week too and have no intentions of selling this to our VSP patients. We have been selling Varilux lenses to the same VSP patients for years and see no reason to switch to a different essilor lens. I am not really sure who they are trying to capture here, it appears to be the same price as the physio lens we now use and no better? We pitched the packet, except the nifty vertex ruler, we kept that! :bbg:

We received it late last week and the dumpster already took it away. I'm wondering how close it is to the Vision Source lenses..

The VSP lab rep stopped in the other day with more info. I was honest and told her that we probably would continue to use what we already use but thank you anyway. What she really wanted was to recruit us to use the VSP lab for all of our jobs. Mmm, no.

...until you get the next memo that states the reimbursemenst for non-vsp products will now be lower, or non-existent. (don't laugh, they already did it on sight for students)

We don't participate in Sight for Students. Now how can VSP reimburse us a lower amount for a product when it is a set dispensing fee for all progressive lenses? There is no reimbursement, we don't supply the lenses. What am I missing?

I may be wrong, as I don't do VSP anymore, but isn't there a dispensing fee for progressives? Couldn't they make a higher fee (which would make the others lower) for their branded products? Haven't they already done that w/the Marchon product w/ the $5 spiff?

There is a dispensing fee which is the same for all levels of progressive lenses. Can they change it? I don't know, they never have. The Marchon five dollar rebate is only if you buy the Marchon frames through Eyefinity which we do not.

Wonder which Essilor labs will be the only ones to have it besides VSP.....betcha it isn't us partners.

There's a list of labs on the propaganda. I tossed mine already, but I remember Southern Richmond was on it - they're wholly owned (Sealey).

    Here is your lab list....

    VSP LAB Columbus, ohio
    Optical Supply
    Bell Optical, Twinsburg
    Bell Optical, Huntington
    Bell optical, Dayton
    Top Network, Columbus OH
    Omega
    DSouthern Optical, Richmond
    Precision Optics, St Cloud
    Bell Duffens
    Twin City, Traverse City
    Twin City, Minneapolis

Here is a thought. I wonder how VSP will market this lens, I wonder if they will market this lens to all there members via mailings etc. IF they educate the member population on this lens, we VSP providers may not have a choice BUT to sell this lens when a member comes in asking for it.

    Lightbulb Inspire lens

This is a Zeiss product, not Essilor.

So sell it then. The worst that can happen is a remake which is on VSP's dime. If the patient comes in asking for it all you can do is tell them that you haven't used it yet but if they would like to give it a try than sure, we'll do that.

They are offering a pair to VSP providers and/or their employees. We declined but if you want to try it yourself just contact your VSP lab rep or VSP or one of the labs listed.

The labs that process the Reveal Lens are:

    VSP Labs, Sacramento, CA

    VSP Legends 4.0, Lewisville, TX

Ultra Lens Optical, Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Carl Zeiss Vision Kentucky, Hebron, KY

Carl Zeiss Vision Northwest, Clackamas, OR

    Cumberland Optical Co., Nashville, TN

    Laser Optics, Tempe, AZ

Carl Zeiss Vision SOCAL / Specto Optical Co, Montclair, CA

Vision Systems Ophthalmic Labs, Riverdale, GA

    Tri-City Optical, Clearwater, FL

    Perfect Optics, Vista, CA

Carl Zeiss Vison Texas, Lewisville, TX

Also note that VSP doctors receive an additional $10 when ordered through Eyefinity.

Again, this is the Reveal Lens from VSP and Zeiss.

There you have it Coco. By giving you $10 more on that lens, they are giving you $10 less on the others.

thats funny... i didnt think VSP would move away from its normal bedmate (essilor) and make an exclusive product with zeiss... so now they are just working both sides of the fence.

i was told the reveal was very similar to the GT2, and the GT2 HD

so now i wonder if the inspire is pretty much a Physio and physio 360
