    Fit Illumina progressive mid pupil or bottom pupil? Need help for my husband.

    I have a coupon for these lenses and am going to use it to make some new glasses for my very picky husband. If I fit mid pupil it will be at 19 and lower pupil at 18 high. He is mildly farsighted with a +2.50 add.

    I have never used this progressive so I have no idea. I need help! :)

    Read and see the computer. He wants to be comfortable walking around in them, too. His correction is about a +1.00 with about -.50 cylinder with a +2.50 add.

    He wears two pairs of glasses now, one is a Sola One and the other is a Physio. Both are mid pupil and he complains about both of them. It bugs him to wear glasses, he went 44 years without any.

    He tried just reading glasses and they bothered him even more. I made him some computer glasses and he didn't like them either. He wants good distance so he can look up and walk around in them.

    I was thinking if I dropped it a mm they might not bother him as much. But I know some lenses work better fitted slightly low then others do. I also want to give him enough reading area.

    Sometimes our families are more trouble them our patients! :bbg:

    The fact is, you won't know going in whether 18 or 19 is better - they are so close that any nuance in his posture, chair height, level of adaptability, personal tolerance/preference, or phase of the moon will make as much difference. However, you can easily reposition the glasses at need by 1mm without cosmetic or comfort tradeoffs. Fit the patient, not the manual.

    Fit it where it's supposed to be fit, mid pupil. The images below the first depicting the Illuminas add map and the second depicting the cylinder map gives a good idea of the rate of change in powers across the surface. You'll notice that a slight fit lower isn't going to change the gradation in powewr horizontally, but you'll also notice from teh cylinder map that a slight change in height might change where his gaze traverses through what's supposed to be the umbilic or corridor of the lens. In this design the corridor isn't the widest so a slght miss in the corridor might equate to a large amount of error in the corridor and be too great of a sacrifice for what seems like negligable if any improvement for the distance. You may consider a better design to suit his needs rather than try and fudge a lens to fit his needs.

    For a hyperope if I could suggest a GT2, GP Wide, or Concise different companies but similar clarity in the distance of the lens.

    Thanks, Harry. That sure doesn't look like a very wide intermediate area. I got a coupon for the lenses for free so the only thing I have to pay for is the AR, that is why I am using this lens. If he doesn't like it then they can be an extra pair and I'll get him something else.

    I ordered them at 19.

    True, but the exception to that rule:

    Price = $0.00

    Most people wouldn't complain about FREE lenses of course their is an exception to that as well:
