    CR39 vs TL16 transitions

Is there any difference between the way transitions works on orma vs the TL16 vs TL167? What if I made a pair up of glasses with an orma trans grey on the right lens and TL16 transitions grey on the left.....would they match??
Do they fade at the same rate? Darken at the same rate? Get as dark?

    Hi Mike
Sorry it took so long to answer...I am at VEE and the days preceding and the show itself is very full and busy.

In theory, the performance speeds and darkness should match very well.

But...since most 1.6 lenses are AR lenses (well all Transitions are more than likely AR lenses too) ...I am not so sure how AR reflect colors would match on the different materials side by side. Could be perfect..but mixing material and index is not something we do in new product validations.

Is there a reason for the mix and match? If it is an Rx thing, I would stay with the 1.6.

    Have a great day,
    Jim

Hey jim thanks for the reply....I was just wondering if the trans. on the 1.6 was somehow less effective like the previous generation where there was the next gen that was considerably better than the trans 5 on the 1.6 and 1.67.

hi there. i just sharing my experience regarding this. i don't think it will be ideal to fit a different index of transition lens. the change fully dark of 1.6 will not be as dark as 1.5 which was told by the rep here maybe due to the material itself.. if you planning to do so i will recommend you to seek the opinion of the lab you deal with..

    Different products in Asia

    Hello Yeap,
In Asia there are several different Transitions lens technologies available.

Make sure you are comparing Transitions VI . You also have Transitions Ultrafast plus remnants of Transitions V and maybe some Next Generation lenses floating around. There are other specialty Transitions product in Asia that I am not up on too, I am sure your rep can help you with what is available to you.

Ultrafast is Transitions lens made for specificly for Asian markets. I do not know that much about it except that it is not as dark as Transitions VI.

    regards,
    Jim
