What are your thoughts on budget/insurance frames in your opticals as an alternative to the "better" lines? Do you offer them as "special?" Which ones have you had good luck selling that don't fall apart? How much do they typically cost per? Thanks.

Silver Dollar has very nice frames and excellent quality... from what I have experienced :)
You may want to try Smilen Eyewear and/or LBI. They both have some pretty decent frames (depending on what you want to pay for them).
A&A Optical New Globe. Eye Q Apollo. Sometimes Rem has a special on it's house line.
We got some of the new globe frames for free when we bought a bunch of stuff from their higher lines. I'd say that was the right price point. Our state MD office uses Eye Q and the kids go through them like chicklets. Gobal frames are a little more expensive than the Ideal line. We sell a few of them. The finish on the Global frames does not seem very durable. We had one with a rusty hinge that never left our showroom. It corroded in about 6 months. We use the Casino Budget frames from Ideal with great success. They have good quality and a nice price. They also have attractive styles. I can pm you a list of winners if you want. I don't work for Ideal. I just think they are a win/win proposition. You get a good quality frame at an attractive price, and your patient gets something covered by insurance that has good quality and styling.

Haven't had too much of an issue with either of these but most of them are priced for insurance coverage and well, that's what you get really. 60% buy up but we still must have something available for those who don't. Eye-Q has better quality lines also, the Apollo does well.

We have very good luck with the Fregossi line from Continental. Decent styling, good price and very good durability.

Check out Avalon they have the parade line we use for passport, theyre cheap and we figured well theyre gonna break them anyways (in ky theyre approving for 3-5 replacements a year) but the parade have held up pretty well. Only complaints is theyre ZYLs are all cold insert and the temple screws are bad about working loose.
Out of a couple hundred ideal frames sold, we just returned 8 that were damaged. These frames have the lowest return rate of any brand that we carry. They have nice styles and an excellent price. Do yourself a favor and call Ideal. We have tried Modern, Avalon, and many of the others that have been mentioned in this thread. None of them have the durability of Ideal's Casino line, IME.
got a # for ideal?....im blown away but yes i have found a question google cant answer lol
We use Modern for our Budget frames. We take no insurance, and offer no sales. We use them mostly for 2nd pair's and for back up glasses for Cl wearer's. I package price them. It is also a good alternative to the occasional "Thats to expencive, I'm going to Walmart". :finger:
LDO, ABOC, NCLEC
Slow down everyone your moving to fast, frames can't catch you when your moving like that!

Ideal is our budget frame vendor and I have been very impressed with them. Impressed enough to drop a Hoyalux ID 1.7 in one this morning, actually.
I use Parade from Avalon a lot on my specials board. But on my regular boards I use Modern Optical for those that don't want to go over their "frame allowances" their frames are actually really nice for the price, and they don't hurt the wallet.
It is kind of refreshing to see a thread dealing with budget priced frames compared to the uisual ones glorifying the the top of the top high priced ones.
