    Bayer Abrasion Scale: Published Values??

    Just wondering,
Are there any published values of the Bayer Abrasion Scale values for the different AR coatings available today?

I found out recently that Hoya SuperHivsion is a 10.9 out of 11 (Glass) while Teflon and Crizal Alize was 7 & 6 respectively (I think).....

    Kinda interesting....

Crizal Avance has recently been made more scratch resistant and they claim it is the most scratch resistant on the market now. The improved Avance was available Febuary 10th.

The basic layer of an AR coating is SIO2 that will provide the best scratch resistancy.

A good slick coat that has no hardness whatsoever can provide a very good scratch resistance by:

    1) Letting objects slide of the surface instead of hooking on and scratching.

    2) By being charged with anti -stat properties which will not let dust particles adhere to the lens. This results that there is less abrasion on lens surfaces when cleaning without washing these particles off.
