National Optronics 7EA, Anyone using one?

Hey everyone,

We are looking at purchasing a 7EA as a second edger for our lab. We have a new Kappa D coming to replace our current Kappa, but we are also considering a NO 7EA for wraps, small B frames, and drilling etc.

I've heard some good opinions on this machine, and I'm wondering if any of you have used one, or know someone that has one. Looking for some real world opinions on its quality, reliability, ease of use etc.

We have 4 7Es and 4 7EAs as well as 5 ES3s. I've always been a fan of Optronic edgers. They are real work horses, like the old AIT Mark IV. You can get a multi hub that allows you to have a variety of cutters for regular and wraps. Does a fair job on shallow Bs but can push the top and bottom bevels to the back on lower minuses. They are reliable with proper routine maintenance and easy for us dumb opticians to work on. Be sure to wear hearing protection as they will induce high frequency hearing loss.h
