    Question Chia Pets

Now that the holiday shopping season is in full swing, we begin to see those annual favorites, Chia Pets and the Clapper. I understand the Clapper, but what, exactly, does one do with the stuff that grows on a Chia Pet?

I place it on the salad of unexpected guests that arrive at dinner time.

Speaking of which, who remembers the banana peel craze? They call me Mellow Yellow!

    C'mon, Steve,

You live in A/C 707 country- you don't need "mellow yellow" or Chia pets, just walk out back, pick some weed, dry it, need I say more (of course you have to watch out for the trip-wires, guys hiding out with guns, not to mention those damn helicopters)?

We've been dispensing mini chia pets for years. They're silicone, they help support the frame on a patient's face, and after a few weeks...presto ! Green stuff grows out of them !

The most impressive chia I have ever seen was on a friend's back porch in CA. It was a green, fuzzy Jerry Garcia. :p

They actually stopped making Chia pets and are using the same product from 1981.
They just repackage all their returns after Christmas for the following year.

    Hey Steve,

Are you referring to "Bannanadine"? Dried bannana peel stuffed in the end of a cigarette and smoked for an alleged "buzz"? If it is I believe that you could get directions for it in some survival catalog or Foxfire book. :-)

"Bananadine" is probably a myth- I remember that one guy said for you to get high using this stuff you would need 15 pounds of banana peels (that's a lot of banana peels!), scraped off the white pith , roasted it, then smoked the resultant powder you would have a very short hallucogenic experience. Seems to me a nice cold one would be easier- BTW, who remembers the singer who immortalized this "product" in song? I remember listening to it on my old 8-track player (boy, does that date me?)

Thanks Harry! I'll put that on my gift list this year. The kids are always asking me what I want for Christmas and I never know. This'll help! :D

There's also a new Bob Dylan album out that I've heard parts of. It sounded pretty good.
