    Redhot Jumper used pure opics

Um, yeah, Einstein, I have heard of Google and, yes I did do a search there. I just really don't feel $80 bucks is a good deal. That's only $20 off new.

And thank you, Fezz, for the tip. I did check Amazon and Ebay to no avail. I'll keep up the search.

Thanks to both for my welcome.

He is very bright, but his name is obxeyeguy! Believe me, he meant no harm!

I will search around for a used copy for you as well. Hopefully someone will chime in. You may want to post the question in the General Forum. The response may be better!

Redhot Jumper systems for ophthalmic dispensing

Ok, Systems for Ophthalmic Dispensing. What do all you others recommend? I started reading that book and I was so bored, I wanted to cry. Please tell me it gets better. I've pretty much got all the material I need aside from what I'll need to know about cutting lenses. I have no practical experience in that and I have no material on it. Hook me up.

    Thanx for all the posts:)

systems for opthalmic dispensing is a quite detailed book and somewhat boring at times. But of all the books out there that is one of the best books for passing the abo. Focusing on studying vertex distance, decentration, minimum blank size, prentice rule. also work on problem solving progressive, bifocal and single vision lenses.

I also recommend another book for ncle. it is called a comprehensive study and reference guide it is a blue and white book very outstanding. one of the writers of the book trains optemetrists in fitting of contacts. bill devine chapter chapter 7. I would definitely recommend if he is teaching it take his 20 hour contact training course to be board certified and his refresher course before taking the ncle. The abo reviewer course I would not recommend felt like it didn't help me at all.

    Wink Thanx Jeff

I believe I will take your advice. Did I mention my book "Systems for Ophthalmic Dispensing" was published in 1979? I don't even know where I got it from. I'll get an updated copy. I'm gonna save NCLE for next year. Both of these certifications really aren't too relevent to the work I actually do, I'll only use a small bit of the knowledge on the job, but I will get a raise for each one I get and they will make me more marketable if need be. I'm excited.

    Pure Vision

I agree that 'System' is the best book...we used it in school for 2 years and boy did it get me through.....ditto on the NCLE book reccomended.

But, if you still want a copy of Pure Vision...I have one.

    Let me know...

The most fabulous trade journal, Eye Care Professional Magazine, had a well written and informative article about building an optical library. Check it out here:

Rumor has it that this brilliant author is also a snappy dresser, go-getter, and over all magnificent crusader for the Opticians cause!
