Biggest Obama disappointment so far ?

I've heard some economists say that Obama should have nationalized the banks that received bail-outs, at least temporarily. Seems reasonable . What do you think?

Biggest Obama disappointment so far ?
    • He hasn't parted the red sea
    • He hasn't cured cancer
    • He hasn't cured AIDS
    • He hasn't singled handedly captured Bin Laden
    • He hasn't managed to turn the entire world into a democratic one where we all join hands and sing "I'd like to buy the world a coke" every Thursday at 5p.m.
    • He hasn't convinced the Republicans that not all of us Democrats and Independents do NOT consider him the next messiah
    • He has yet to break the Cubby curse
    • He hasn't leaped over tall buildings in a single bound. Yet.
    • He hasn't gone to Antarctica and stopped that ice shelf from falling off.
    • And...He hasn't offered to buy any of us a beer. Jerk.
Dude, it hasn't even been a week. Cut the man some slack!

And maybe the Senate and the prez should've put better stipulations on the banks when they bailed them out in the first place.

Besides all that, isn't nationalizing the banks (socialism) what Conservatives tried to make their main point against Obama about? Yet now everyone seems all too willing to just hand them over.

When has the government EVER given back what it's been given? Didn't work that way with taxes, nor has the Patriot Act been reversed. There's probably a list of things 10 feet long that the government has taken over, when it seemed like a good idea.

    Wonder why....

The goverment should have sent every U S citizen that is or was working and paying taxes a check for $15,000 and watch how that would stimulate the economy.
That way we would get back a little of the money they have screwed us out of. By giving it to banks and other businesses we still don't have it to spend and should not have to borrow it to be able to spend it.
    SCREWED AGAIN. BIG TIME.

But wouldn't that be Rampant Government Spending Out Of Control? Heck, If Obama did that, he'd be crucified by the Right for Tax And Spend. Not to mention how would they print that much dough? Where would the money come from?
Sounds like a good idea on the surface, but it would be even more irresponsible than Bush getting us to this point anyway.

Actually, this week he took a major step toward eliminating cancer and AIDS (as well as toothaches, scraped knees, and birthdays) in many 3rd world countries by contributing your tax dollars to pay for abortions overseas.

There's a whole bunch of kids that won't ever have to worry about cancer or AIDs.

According to this pastor, (African American) cancer and AIDS is being eliminated in the black population in the US as well:

The Rev. Cecil Blye, pastor of More Grace Ministries Church in Louisville, Ky., said his even bigger beef with the president, he said, is that a disproportionate number of "black kids are dying each day through abortion. President Obama is supportive of abortion, and that's a genocide on black folks. Nobody wants to talk about that as a civil rights issue."

(This article was actually about the inclusion of atheists in the inaugural speech)

So don't be disappointed! He's well on his way to making HUGE changes.

What I find to be hilarious (or would be if the results weren't so far-reaching and, in fact, bad.) is looking back on the Optiboard way back to 2000. All the Cons were all ebullient and predicting an absolutely perfect America after Dubya got elected. Funny how short their memory is. But I guess, to them, what we've gone through in the last eight years is a Good Thing.

And I saw posts by these same Cons saying that you could not judge Dubya at least until after the hundred days have gone by. But I guess fair is not fair to them. After only a week, the Cons are blasting Obama.
    So,

    SHADDAP ALREADY!!

In the interest of the country you so claim to love, give the man the SAME chance you wanted for Dubya.

I love The Onion! I've got it bookmarked.

About this whole funding abortion hoopla: These programs ALSO provide contraceptives and vital health services. If we can get poor, 3rd world country women on the pill (because you know the men would never be willing to use condoms--it just wouldn't feel as good), then hopefully there won't need to BE any abortions!

It wasn't all about funding abortions. It reversed the ban that Bush put in place that elminated government funds if a health clinic even spoke of abortion. they didn't have to offer to do it, just speak about it and they'd lose funding. That is simply stupid and was a prime example of cutting off ones nose to spite their face.

In countries where men consider their wives property, condoms evil, women die in childbirth on a fairly regualr basis, they're surrounded by poverty and many kids won't live to the age of 5, answering a question about abortion seems not worthy of losing money

Interesting point, but your math is a bit off. That would be $1000 to each person to = $304 billion. If it was a million each, it would cost $304 trillion.

I am disappointed to hear this

A spokesman for General James Cartwright, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, states that the Obama Administration wants to have soldiers and officers pledge a loyalty oath directly to the office of the President, and no longer to the Constitution.

I know it was hard to believe it...but did you know that if this happened, the State of Arizona would secede from the United States of America if certain conditions happened?

    The bill in http://www.azleg.state.az.us/legtext...s/hcr2034p.htm states:

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring:
    1. That when or if the President of the United States, the Congress of the United States or any other federal agent or agency declares the Constitution of the United States to be suspended or abolished, if the President or any other federal entity attempts to institute martial law or its equivalent without an official declaration in one or more of the states without the consent of that state or if any federal order attempts to make it unlawful for individual Americans to own firearms or to confiscate firearms, the State of Arizona, when joined by thirty-four of the other fifty states, declares as follows: that the states resume all state powers delegated by the Constitution of the United States and assume total sovereignty; that the states re-ratify and re-establish the present Constitution of the United States as the charter for the formation of a new federal government, to be followed by the election of a new Congress and President and the reorganization of a new judiciary, similarly following the precedent and procedures of the founding fathers; that individual members of the military return to their respective states and report to the Governor until a new President is elected; that each state assume a negotiated, prorated share of the national debt; that all land within the borders of a state belongs to the state until sold or ceded to the central government by the state's Legislature and Governor; and that once thirty-five states have agreed to form a new government, each of the remaining fifteen be permitted to join the new confederation on application.

No no no. Your news source has it all wrong. They were to pledge a loyalty oath to FezzJohn, Inc. They will now spread good faith and beer to the free people of Iraq
