    Going rate of pay

What is the going rate of pay in your area for certified Opticians?
I 'm going to ask for a raise the 1st of the year and want to make sure of my facts before I ask. I'm in the KC area and I have an idea of what some folks make here, but of course its just so different for every office.

    Thanks.

The whole economy is in the tank, everyone's tightening their belts and you want "mo' money"? Well, just show some evidence the YOU are worth it in these trying times. Find facts to justify that YOU should earn what some folks earn, but factor in that sales in 2009 may be down. :D

I suggest checking Eyecare Business's October 2008 edition. They have a salary survey article by Erinn Morgan, entitled Compensation Nation.

The average salary for a licensed Optician is $40,000.

Go to www.bls.gov from there on the left side there is a pay and benefits. Select wages by area and occupation. Select State wage data, select your state, select 29-0000 healthcare practioner and technical occupations, we are 29-2081. Hope this helps.
