Hi, list. Can anyone tell me (hopefully citing a source) the percentage of spectacle lenses produced with an astigmatic Rx component? I'm trying to compare how often eyeglasses are dispensed with just a spherical correction vs how often it's a sphero-cylinder. I don't care if it's single vision or multifocal, glass or plastic or polycarbonate, finished or unfinished. Thanks!

A large study in the U.K. showed that around 70% of all prescriptions contained cylinder corrections. These data were summarized in Rabbett's "Clinical Visual Optics, 2nd Ed." -- among other places.

    Best regards,
    Darryl
