What the H is a medicaid license?
If you don't have to me any better than medicaid workers, they should pay you just to accept it.

I have a feeling this is a state by state thing as medicaid is based at the state level. Here it texas I know it's very easy to sign up for it, but you need to think if that's really where you want to take your practice. Personally, at walmart we take it and do a TON of medicaid and it's just not really worth it in my opinion. I'm stuck dispensing $48 glasses because that's all that medicaid will pay for and, granted, it's nearly all profit, but my time would be better served by doing other things. It gets really old trying to discuss upgrades when the patient just wants "my free pair since I wear contacts." Really frustrating and makes me wish I could just walk those patients.

I do believe it is a state by state issue.

We are one of the few in our area to accept medicaid, one of a handfull in the city actually. It is exactally what it seems like, its not a huge profit, but it is a huge share of our business. If scheduled correctly (exam) it can be a profitable way to go. The biggest issue is getting together with a lab that not only is medicaid/vsp but also willing to give the best pricing possible for you.
