Trivex bifocals are not Transition 6?

I sold a pair of Trivex bifocals to the father of a friend and assummed that they were Transition 6. I didn't see them when they came back from the lab.

Reading the other thread it dawned on me that Trivex bifocals are not the new Transition 6 but something else. I didn't know this when I sold them. How do they compare to the Transition 6?

I had breakfast with him and his daughter today and noticed he was wearing his old glasses but didn't ask why. Maybe his new ones are too dark inside. He had never had Transition before.

It's been bothering me, I need to ask him but I wanted to ask here first.

    Transitions® Trivex® Segmented lenses and Transitions®VI lenses

    Hi Happy Lady,
    No need to fear.
The Transitions® Trivex® segmented lenses are darker than Transitions® V technology outdoors at all temps but not as dark as Transitions® VI lenses. The outdoor activation and fade performance is very close to Next Generation Gray lenses.
Indoors, the segmented lenses are about 85% Transmission, 89 to 90% with an AR. Hardly to dark for indoors.

In my opinion, it is a better lens than Transitions V technology in the heat. It is close enough to Transitions VI technology that only handfull of wearers asked about them, and this was comparing a spouse or freinds fade back speed in cool temperatures.
    regards,

    Jim:

I am trying translate your last post. Are you saying that Transions in relaxed state (inside) block 10-15% of light after lightening even when enhansed with AR?
I had thought that after about 10 min. they only blocked 3-5% without AR.
What is the acual transmission (or ambient light blockage) inside with and without AR?

    Hi Chip,

Inside, in its clear state, a Transitions® VI lens without AR averages about 89% Transmission across all lens materials . With AR, the %T will run 94 to 95% on average.

Happy Lady asked about a non Transitions VI product, the Trivex Segmented lens (FT and Trifocals). That lens is about 85% indoors without AR but 89-90% with it. We consider Trivex Segmented a new platform. One that can evolve as development continues. It is similar to differences in 1.50 and Velocity. Both were imbibed but with different dye packages maximized for the lens material.

    regards,
    Jim

:(I wished I had known this when I sold them to him. I recommended the Transition to him based on how clear the new Transition 6 is inside. He likes to putter in the yard and the idea of a changeable lens was appealing.
