So today has been one odd day (out of many, but I digress...)
1) There was a by-election in my provincial riding, so I had to vote today. My polling station is an armoury and training centre for the Department of National Defence. So not only is there a tank on display outside the building, but I walk in to find 3 more tanks over on one side of the room, military photos all over the walls, and (I guessing because I went during my lunch break) soldiers in fatigues walking around. I just kept telling myself: "This is Canada. This is Canada. This is Canada..."
2) I'm a volunteer narrator at UBC, reading texts and books onto computer for students with visual and/or cognitive impairments. So today, I get to read "The Sound and the Fury" by Faulkner. Do you have any idea how hard it is to read a book aloud when there's virtually no punctuation on the page????
3) On my way to catch the bus after my narration stint, I passed by the UBC outdoor pool and the university's synchronized swim team. They were practicing a routine based on the music from the big fight scene in Star Wars I (which was actually the 4th movie). That is not a score I would have thought would lend itself to synchronized swimming...
Now, I'm home, relaxing with a gin and tonic, and thinking that I've enough wierdness for one day. :hammer:
