Prism Thinning in PAL lenses with Prism RX.

    Hi,
What is the standard practise for prism thinning on a progressive lens with a with prism RX? (Should prism thinning be done?)

I'd have to say yes, but it would be diminished or accentuated pending the magnitude and direction of the carrier Rx.

I remember once doing one with 4.5 up and 4.5 down. I put it all in the base down side. It turned out very nice.

Prism Thinning in PAL lenses with Prism RX.

Once prism thinning is done, is the RX not altered from the original script.

Prism thinning should have no effect on the prescribed prism.

I use prism thinning with the prism rx, however you should always keep in mind the further you are away from the OC the more the patient will notice the chromatic abberation... therefore always pay attention to not to add un-necessary prism in the base down lens by compensating in the base up lens.

Same principle can be use for a patient with deminished VAs in one eye and so on, Good luck.
