I do this several times a day, and though there is occasionally an issue which arrises, it's generally a smooth operation. It's not like edging requires you to stand over and stare at the edger...we calibrate it frequently enough that 99% of lenses don't need to come down any after the first run.
3-4 hours? If a pt ignores your instructions and walks in when you can't take the job, offer to schedule an appt for a later time/date which works. And even with an appt, if you've run into a broken screw, let that pt know it's gonna be a bit more complicated, could they wait a few more minutes?
