Does anyone out there have a Service Manual for a Essilor Gamma Edger.

Might want to check with Leo Hadley at VSI 1-866-934-1030
we have a manual, but honestly, we often have to call Gerber anyway. It's not that we can't read the manual, it hasn't had the info we needed in it when something broke. We do about 30 jobs a day, and have had it over 10 years now, and I must say it has just been adequate as far as not breaking down is concerned. We just had to do some electrical work on our gamma last week, had to order parts in from gerber, about a 3 hour install (we kept burning out fuses). For it's time it was a very good edger, but we have spent lots in repair and maintenance through the years.
We are having some problems with the Tracing table.
When we put the Adapter for tracing lenses or formers the tracer still thinks it is tracing a frame. It will not acknowledge the Adapter.
I would still like the Service Manual if I could get one.

Thanks,
I will have a look at that and see if that is the case.
You don"t happen to have a service manual do you.
John
Your problem is that when the clamps close on the adapter, the encoder is not getting the proper measurement. You have encoders for both the front and rear jaw assemblies. The clamps which do the measureing are the front right and rear left clamps. Check to see if either of these clamps have excessive play and if they do, the clamp peg may be broken of worn. You can try to wrap the black clamp cover with "ONE" layer of electrical tape to take up the slack, so the clamp opening is closer to what the encoder needs to recognize the adapter. The clamp assemblies can be replaced, but are available only as a complete assembly with the encoders attached and cost about $500 a piece.
The owner manuals do not address any service problems that are not simple calibration issues. Do not try to calibrate the tracing table with this problem, or you won't be able to trace frames either. The technical manuals are available at www.gerbercoburn.com.
Does anybody have trouble with parts getting back ordered from Gerber? It also took 2 days to get a call back from tech support .They have went down hill BIG TIME:angry:
we have a problem with our gamma that makes it blow fuses, so we need to stock multiple amounts, and can only get them trhough gerber, we have tried other sources. Anyway, I ordered more on thursday, we only had 2 left, and they came in through ups today(tuesday). I had an option, for $48.00 shipping, to get them next day, couldn't justify it.
i been having trouble with my edger its an essilor gama Does anyone know who can replace motor(door). I have the parts
the door gets stuck when it goes down. Thanks
Give me a call! Tom 412-596-9625
Gamma and Kappa parts are going to be tougher and tougher to get as they are old machines. Might be a good time to invest in a new machine, I gave heard good things about Coburn's new edgers, and they are available with 3 year parts and service warranties.
