Need help finding the appropriate frame!

Little backstory here, I'm a fairly big guy myself. About 6'6", 70pd etc. When I get big guys coming in, I default to the frames that fit me. There aren't many (in our dispensary atleast) that fit, but I can usually find something that works. Until today that is. Had a guy come in, 21 years old. Has a 70 PD, but needs a frame with a FPD of ATLEAST 75. The only frames that I had that would work are very large "Old-man" frames. Big stetsons, elasta etc. He wasn't liking any of them, so I was hoping I could get some help from you guys. He wants a fairly trendy frame, plastic, or atleast plastic temples. Hoping for something with a B of 30 at the most. Thanks!

A&A makes a line called XXL that's been doing fairly well for us. Fairly inexpensive, most will fit a progressive.
Also, get good at bowing the temples.
    Good Luck!

    Big Guy frames

    Mr. Knight,

May I suggest your Silhouette Minimal Art.
You can customize to any size. Perfect for hard fits.
There are 17,19,21mm bridge sizes avail PLUS 140,50,60,70mm Temple sizes!:drop:
You can make the eyesize anything you want.
I have seen large & small PD's done very nicely.
Keep in mind High RX's can be done very well with a little thought on your part. It is possible to fit MED---personally I have seen a +8.50 done quite well! :)

    PM me for more info.

    Best regards,

    Scott

I second the A&A XXL line. Modern Optical also has the BMEC (Big Men Eyewear Club) frames that can get pretty big.
There's an XXL called Lightning that has a FPD of 78, and 155 mm temples to boot!

The XXL seems nice. Found a few frames online. Does anyone know if they have a Canadian distributor?

They seem to only have like 4 frames? They've got more T-Shirts than opthalmic frames!

And thanks Scott, the Silhouettes were an option. He wanted a thicker, bolder frame though, so I figured I'd check before going back to that route.

Our Europa rep was in today, and they've has just come out with a new men's line with some frames measuring 57-18. 150 temples available, too. The frames are relatively stylish, some are semi-rimless with flat metal.

    i dont know about you

Ive recently bought a pair of glasses which, to be fair, dont look all to great but I only use them for distance so I make do.
They are great however, when Im looking at things close to me, or at people lets just say I dont like what I see!!!!

If I look like I do when looking in the mirror through these, heaven forbid I should have given up long ago!!

Does anyone else have this problem? Is it just my actual skin or do all distance glasses make you look horrendous????

    I heard it was called "focal-distortion'" ???

Ha. My sister had the same problem, and yes you're correct it is focal distortion. The type of lens in the glasses is specifically made to magnify what is FAR AWAY so understandibly it will alter what is closer.

The only solution to youre problem is to ignore it and not look at yourself in too much detail up close when wearing them I'm afraid!

I just had a friend of the Fatheadz owner in over the weekend. Apparently he's a former football player, a big guy, who could never find eyewear that fit well. His friend was a big guy, too, and we didn't have anything that didn't make him look like Mr. Potato Head with the tiny glasses. I got the impression that the company is a newer venture, so maybe they'll expand soon.

This looks like a niche that FezzJohns Inc. should be filling!

Nordic from Ronor has the King Size line.

There is also Infinity Optical. Here is a link for their "hard to fit frames."

Ummmm....did serenawww just ask a question to herself and then reply to herself? Any shrinks in today?

If your lenses correct vision "FAR AWAY", you're nearsighted and your distance glasses have a minifying affect.
