    Question

Question for you: Do you know where I can get a replacement temple for a pair of metal Coach frames? ("Lisa" 110 in Boardeaux). My right one snapped off tonight. I knew something was up because that temple was constantly in need of adjustment lately. They're 2½ years old. Wear them daily. Take great care of them. I've got nearly scratch-free PALs in them, so I would like to replace the temple if I can. I like the frame, too. Any idea who I might contact? We don't carry Marchon.

    Fezz...

We're in this to make money by helping folks see better and look good while doing it. The lines I mentioned are profit centres for us. My state is currently in a recession so every $ counts, now is not the time to join some crusade. :-)

FORGET THE FRAME LINE! FezzJohns is obviously way too expensive. Now the Ale line - maybe there's a thought. supply free refreshments while picking out glasses. I bet I could sell more Palin specs that way. I'll let you know if it works.

Ok, let's see if we can't steer this back on topic.

    Seriously...

We have a pretty good idea how a lot of us feel about the Marhcon/VSP deal, but will it/ has it really changed the way we do business? When we go to VEW, will everybody still be hanging out at the Marchon booth, and sticking their hands into the gross M&M bowls?

Have you had any feedback from the reps when they call? Positive? Negative? Anything? Do they seem to care, or are they towing the company line and saying their business is way up and everyones just SO excited with the "merger"?

Has this changed the way we view other "Big Boy" companies and their potential alliances?

    Exclamation

Okay so now I know what the issue was with my Coach temple (s). Ordered the replacements from an optician across town who carries Coach. Noticed them to be wiggly still. Left temple still didn't feel right. Hanging down a ways, affecting the fit. Turns out the original screws and the subsequent ones used literally were not grabbing, hence causing this continuous loosening up of the temples. We finally found some that fit and let me tell you, what a difference. Now I don't feel like these things are going to fall apart. They felt flimsy for the past 2 years. Now they actually feel sturdy!

My question: Is it customary for manufacturers to use the wrong size screws from the onset? I bet that temple wouldn't have been so compromised and finally broken off like it did IF the right screws had been in there in the first place.

Our Rep said that they were told nothing was going to change, except we get a $5 rebate when ordering a Marchon frame thru eyefinity. We've not heard anything from the other reps, yet. Oh, and if we use the VSP lab, we get another rebate. We're not using that lab at all except for certain contacts that require it.

It's taken a while for me to re-educate our frame buyer, but she's now seeing the light about the major frame companies. We're doing more and more with the smaller companies that we're able to get better discounts with.

Yes, we still have Nike and some Flexon, but we're going with stuff that's just more profitable for the office now.

Our Safilo and Marchon bills were tremendous when we first bought the office.

    Thank you Optiboard!

I'll be there - to meet my Optiboard comrades. But I still won't buy anything. Same as last year.
