Blue Jumper How about some FOOTBALL! 2008 EDITION

I have be patiently waiting for Pete to restart this thread but perhaps, because of his new corporate responsibilities, he has been too busy. Well folks, the season begins tonight and its time to see if any team in the NFL can top the record of last years New England Patriots. The world (meadowlands) champion NY Giants are playing the Washington Redskins at home. Any predictions????

The best Manning plays on Sunday night. I feel sorry for the bears. See you on November 2nd Pats fans. There is going to be some pre-thanksgiving stuffing.

    On the College Front

    This just in:
Ben Mauk of Cincinnati has lost yet again his bid for an extra season.
Seems he was jealous and wanted to play as many years of college ball as O.J. Mayo did of high school ball.

Has Cinci signed Graham yet? I think he is their only kicker.

Pat's will lose twice (on purpose) this regular season...

I like the Giants in a close (3 point) game.

Regardless of what Costa and Company said....

I would have to agree with Moss. The shot at Brady was cheap. Brady had already thrown the ball and clearly the defender grabbed Brady's leg and gave it a twist. that was no simple "blocking into Brady"as those "anylysts" tried to say it was. Tough break anyway you slice it.

    Harry (and all Pat fans),

No qualms about it, I don't like Tom Brady. However, I'd much rather see him play (and lose), than be sidelined for a year due to injury. Here's hoping the surgery and the rehab go well.

    That said, come on now...

I would probably be posting the same thing if it were Manning, but the commissioner's office (who has been pretty darn kind to the Patriots over the past year) said it was a clean hit. Just bad luck- not malicious cheating.

Looks like New England might still be pretty formidable. If Cassell is really as good as he looked against KC. Still, I'm glad my fantasy QB is Farve this year (with Trent Edwards in reserve- so I have two AFC East QBs)!

    Good luck in '08!

Oh, and no bashing the greatest coach of all time (or JoePa will hunt you down and put a beatin on you- he's pretty darn spry for an octogenarian).

Of course that is what the league would have said Pete, it wasn't egregious but if you get a chance to watch it, the ball had been thrown and the play was over. Momentum carried the guy past or jsut into Brady and then he rolled over to his left and grabed Brady's leg and twisted it.I suffered a similar injury in college in a similar manner. No penalty, and within the rules.....was it a cheap shot?.... I think so and nothing the league says is going to change what I saw. Brady will be back, have no fear. Football is a team sport. and only one team member is out for the season. He's a key player, but the Patriots are a great team and they'll find a way to win...just watch. They may not win them all this year but don't count them out just yet! I'm still looking forward to Nov 2nd.

You are at least in the right state........ My vote for greatest coach of all time goes to my golfing mentor and friend John Peterkuskie. He has worked with some pretty great players and coaches and set a record or 2 in Pennsylvainia. Google him and see if you are from the same neck of the woods.
