I agree wholly with finefocus. Too often the so called non-tol is a dispensing or manufacturing mistake. The measurements are wrong or whoever glazed the lenses into the frame was not as accurate as they could have been.
A question...when you fit a new pair of progressive lenses (any type), do you bother marking up the old ones first, just to see if these are fitting correctly?
Many, many times I've seen poorly fitting progressive lenses being worn by patients. They get used to the unwanted cylinder and prismatic effect over the time they wear them. You make a new pair of spectacles for them - accurately - and they cannot compensate. The manufacturer then loses out because a non tol is called for. It's a wonder ANY manufacturer still offers it!
Do yourselves a huge favor, check the old ones before starting to dispense the new ones...even if you dispensed the old ones too!
