A frame that SQUEALS when abused and SCREAMS "Stop your hurting meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

That way the Px would know that it didn't just fall apart but that they murdered it.

Along those same lines, how about a frame that screams LIAR!! when the person hands said mangled frame to you and states they "found them in the case like that"

How about a contact lens that dissolves in the eye after reaching its limit of wear?

I was going to say changes colour to bright yellow but realised no one in the optical world could hack walking down a street full of yellow eyes :(

This could be dangerous if it happened when driving. :)

A dissolving contact lens? Already done. Used for years as a bandage lens, sometimes soaked in antibiotic to deliver a steady dose to an infected cornea. Made of collagen, same as the test puctal plugs. A day or two after insertion...gone. Now ask me where collagen comes from...

how about a screwdriver head that is small and sharp enough to still be completely useful, but not stab into fingers or palms?

frames that punch the wearer in the face anytime they try their own "repairs and adjustments"

Finger cots made inpenetrable by screwdriver blades. Then you could let that big lump of scar tissue on your index finger subside.:D

how about a screwdriver that is small enough but doesn't chip at the most inopportune times? (like when you're out of spare blades)

ETA: We came up with the AutoOptician at work. Remember the inflatable autopilot from Airplane! ? Yeah, this would be the autoinflating optician that you'd use when you've got that sweet customer that won't stop talking. You've finished his needs for this visit and you've got to go do other things, but Mr. Smith won't stop telling stories about the war.

A material w/ the properties of Trivex with an index 1.70, price of poly, available in everything and yet available only to independents. It would replace EVERY lens material.

    Insta clear to polarised

I'd want a set of Rx specs that could change instantly from clear AR state to 65% polarised and then 85% on demand (maybe a button near the RHS closing block which could toggle/cycle through states). Future developments could include colour toggles (brown, grey, green etc) on the LHS closing block button.

... Now I'm thinking it has a nano-tech propulsion on it too making the wearer capable of flight :bbg:

They have something like that for welding masks. It's light sensitive / auto darkening. Rxable would be nice

How about a product with the properties and price of cr39, the thinness of 1.74, and the lightness of Trivex? And nobody would have any problem with it.

Don't forget it has to be more scratch resistant than glass!
