    Your "dream" Optical products!

What would make your life easier? What do you wish the optical industry would make?

I would love to have a device that lines up the temple with the hinge for frames with spring hinges.... that way all you'd have do is drop the screw in!

    Wouldn't that be GLORIOUS??? :bbg:

    What's your dream product?

Try the self aligning screws. They work 95% of the time. As for me I wish ALL frame manufacturers would use phillip heads screws only!!

    Both good ideas!

I wish that all frame designers personally would have to trace, edge and mount a plano, a +4.00, and a -6.00 in every one of their prototype frames before production begins.

An automatic eyeglass washer. Like the thing that cleans bowling balls at the bowling alley. You stick em in and they come out clean and shiny and dry. LOL:D

1% of all revenue going to Fester as this idea's originator...

A peer reviewed "Optiboard Seal of Approval" for your ophthalmic product.

We looked at it, worked with it, and critiqued it. So you know what you're getting!

We'll make Steve stinking rich on this!!

Yep, Dave knows my all-time favourite optical tool, and I use it several times a week though less frequently now that I've near to wore it out! Unfortunately I don't know where to get another one (it must be close to 20 years old) and I've never seen them anywhere else. I'm on 'staycation' right now (read: not at work but not travelling anywhere, especially not to work) but I'll take a pic of it when I return to the office to post. If anyone knows where to procure one, PLEASE let us all know! This thing works like a hot-d**n and the only hinges they don't work on are Sferoflex (if you're unlucky enuf to still have to work on those hehehe) or the kind with the ball bearings. Therefore, its effective on 99% of all spring-hinge frames.

How about frames that will magicly get wider or narrower and have temples that will grow long or shorter to perfectly fit the patient.

Oh, and the frame will change colors. You all have the patients that ask if this brown frame comes in black? Well, with a wave of the hand you can make it black!

How about a wipe that removes all scratches from lenses?

Okay, I know I am really dreaming here! :)

All opticians will then be required to wear them. And a large poster describing each color will be prominantly posted near the dispensing table. Just to let the patients know how well they work.

Not that exactly ;ours works on a far greater range of temple thicknesses than what I would expect that one does. Looks like it works on the same principle though. Cool tool!

Ours has a twisted wire loop which fits between virtually any hinge barrel and temple hinge casing- put a pin through the hinge barrell with the temple in place, slide the temple thru the open side of the tool, extend the hinge so the wire loop sits between the hinge casing and barrel, squeeze the ratchet attached to the wire loop, remove the pin and voila! Your screw slides right in.
