    Pupilometers need repair...

Does anyone know where I can send a few pupilometers to get repaired?
The CPOs where I work had been storing the pupilometers vertically instead of laying them down horizontally in the "off" position.
They burned out 3 pupilometers before I was hired and noticed what was causing them to fail. They had been buying a new pupilometer every 2 months. There is some type of white residue where the battery contacts are (I guess from the light being on all the time, the mercury switch never hits the off position when it lays on it's side).

    Yes, sad. But true.

your help will be greatly appreciated.

Dont know where you can get the repaired, but I would be smacking some CPO's. The care of equipment isnt covered until the CPOA exam.:hammer:

Use a toothbrush to remove the fluffy battery leakage, then shine up the contacts with a pencil eraser. Unless there is something else wrong, they should fire up again.

you can replace the mercury switch easily, if that's what needs replaced. They sell them at Radio Shack, at least they use to. Good Luck!

Sure! They even now come with tiny straws so if you want to break one open, you have a straw to suck it up with.:D

Now,,my dad had about 5 pounds of Mercury in a jar when I was small. We played with that stuff all the time. Guess it's too late now, huh?

I fixed the one working one by using a pencil eraser a few weeks ago. but the others' lights don't come on.

2 of them I can't get a digital readout. and one I can get a digital readout, but the light will not come on. Maybe the board needs some soldering, I didn't want to get into all of that. but I guess I must.

    Thanks for the responses folks!
