    Supreme Court Decision

I want to publicly applaud the Supreme Court for their decision yesterday concerning the Second Amendment.

They delivered a monumental decision in favor of protection of our right to bear arms.

    Bravo!

    :cheers::cheers::cheers:

One more reason for me to celebrate today!

    Ditto....

The court finally got something right. This should have been an 9-0 decision for the 2nd amendment, the court has no right to invalidate explicitly given rights in the constitution.

I think it sucks that municipalities who are trying to protect the lives of their citizens are given no power to do so.

But it is interpretation of law and nothing can be done.

    Flipside:

I think that it is awesome that citizens can now have the power to protect themselves.

I doubt that the citizens would be any safer if the municipalities had the power. Criminalize guns and the only ones with guns will be criminals!

The power to protect the citizens by saying drugs are illegal has not exactly worked out in the citizens favor.

Fezz, we never have gun crimes committed here. We have stricter gun laws.

Thank God it was decided on before Obama had a chance to appoint anyone to the Supreme Court!

    Yeah, Right!

You mean all dem stories bout Sgt. King and de wonderdog, wuzn't true?
He had a murder every week. What you got dem mounties for if no one ever committed a murder in all of Cannada? What you does when dem Polar Bears decides to come in de house and thinks you daughter might be good for dinner?
What you gonna do when the govenment of Cannada becomes so oppressive it needs replacement before the election?

I am talking about my city, not just nation. Municipalities have as much of a role as the Province and Feds.

and no, my town is not a Utopia.

I never said we have no crimes. Our municipality and my former one does not have gun crimes. The Police here (this place) worry more about drugs and do a good job with that. There are no robberies or rapes here. So the police are more busy with DUIs and drugs.

Now, there was someone who had a computer full of child porn and 20 years ago we had a guy who was found to have molested children. That is more when the big units come in.

Toronto is more violent, and so is Vancouver. Thunder Bay had very little crime. Interesting, our population had 115,000 people, and there were two murders that year (First Nations gang violence on the reserve). We became the the city with the largest murder rate per capita. Shows you how few acts there are. Oh, and neither were done with guns.

I should also let you know, the strong majority of us in this region do have guns. But they are for hunting, not harming people. They are locked up in our basements and we never contemplate use of them on others.

Of course, most of the civilized World has a similar story. I wonder if that has any connect to hand gun controls.

But of course Chip, we are just so oppressed that we cannot have guns. Must be horrible to have the feeling that we can leave our doors unlocked and walk the streets at night in safety.

Lets take the gun issue away. Lets take the crime issue away. Lets look at things a bit deeper.

Has Canada given its citizens any rights? If so, have any of those rights been guaranteed by any government constitution, doctrine, or what have you?

I will assume yes to the above. If I am correct, I wonder how a Canadian citizen would feel if those rights were taken away. If there are examples, please share, because I am ignorant on such matters.

Wait til our next administration gives the Southwest back to Mexico and you have them for your southern border. Then you will need Guns, Just last week armed troups from Mexico actually went into New Mexico and assainted some people for attempting to stop drug traffic from Mexico.
I don't think we even posted a protest with Mexico.

You think god wants everybody to have handguns? Would that be because he supports shooting people?

Exactly what happened in DC, crime went up, murders up. Legit permitted gun owners do so for personal protection. They don't kill for sport. When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.:bbg:

Our founding fathers gave us rights that no one today should be trying to take away from me.

I don't think God has a bit of trouble with honest God fearing people destroying evil people in self defense. Even Jesus Christ once said: "It is time to sell your cloaks and buy swords."
Contrary to incorrect translations the Commandment on the subject says: "Thou shalt not commit murder." not "Thou shalt not Kill."

    Jiminy

Can we have a little more hyperbole please?

We ALL know that no such thing will come to pass. If anything that has been the policy of the Bush Administration. It’s just ridiculous to suggest that anything as dramatic as complete elimination of the right to bear arms or the cessation of portions of this nation to another country would EVER happen, let alone during a single administration.

And, if we really want to talk about violations of Constitution, do we really need to look any further than the current administration?

    Fourth Amendment anyone?

I lived in the suburbs of DC growing up and let me be real with you, everyone except those trying to protect themselves have guns. You could pick up a throwaway in SE for less than a $100.00. The only people in DC without guns are those the system calls victims. It's about time they upheld the laws of our nation in our nations capital.

    Ah....blessed relief.

Friday afternoon, and I am done for the weekend.

As I crack another brewski, I decided to celebrate the Supreme Courts decision by cranking up a little Lynard Skynard!

    I'll start with.......

    Give me back my bullets!

Then maybe I'll turn it up and listen to........

    Saturday Night Special!
