Those little metal bushings (?) in hinges

I'm not sure if they're called bushings, but some frames (e.g. Kata) have little round metal thingies inside the hinges (they are stuck in the top and bottom of the temple barrel) and if you take the temple off, the little bushings fall off.

How do get those blasted things to stay on the temple when I put the hinge back together? I can sometimes get one to stay in place with a combination of saliva and very carefully sliding the temple into place, but inevitably at least one falls off and gets lost. Then the hinge is loose unless I tighten the screw way down.

I'd love some help with this! Thanks.

I use the same method you described. There must be a better way than the "spit" method. I'm axious to see the repies you get.

Use a tiny drop of frame protectant or nail polish to hold the bushings in place. Even if you get a bit too much, it still breaks loose easily when it dries.

What is frame protectant? But I'll try the nail polish trick. Thanks for the advice!

I call them "washers" and dealt with them in Seiko frames.

I would wet the hinge barrel first by wetting my finger tip (with saliva) and touching it to the fronts hinge barrel. Then I'd touch the "washer" with my still spit moisend fingertip allowing capillary attractraction to pick up the washer being careful that if it had a flange it would be down so as to fit in the barrel of the front. I'd then carefully place the washer into the hole. I gave up on trying to fit a botttom washer and only dealt with the top one. I'd then carefully slide the temple into the fronts hinge and place the screw into the hole.

Notice how these recommendations are referred to in PAST tense.:D

PS- Order a bunch of these washers for your inventory as you will need them down the road. Oh- BTW the Seiko's had multiple sizes!

Has anyone heard that these are present in Titanium frames because titanium cannot/should not rub against titanium?
I'm curious if this is common knowledge...I came across someone who was rather surprised that I did not learn that in school...
