To believe that is so difficult!! :hammer:
But be sure that we will have some of this suggestions in few years but not all!!.
and the thing that will be very difficul to achive is the material because it is very very difficult to have a cery hight index with th abb value at first and the more difficult is to tint it to 90%:drop:...........
and for all the other data, the futur freeform machines can do it I am sure!!
But i hope that this day in which we can produce this lens arrive :)

    Bobie:

    Two things about this post.

    1. I've been thinking along the same lines, except for the material. As Mahmoud said, with modern equipment it should be possible.

    2. You really need a better hobby than designing lenses all the time. Have you considered collecting rocks, stamps, or gardening??

I quite agree with your "dreaming" except the materials, which seems not important for all patients because even 1.50 may be good enough in case.

We do as many free form lenses as possible; availability is the only limiting factor. We do over 85% at this time and it is getting closer to 100% every day.

Bobie, it's not what we can do for the 1/2 of one percent of our PAL clients, it's what we can do for the other 99.5 percent.
What is your inexpensive go-to progressive for the bulk of your clients? We are using the Nikon i presio for the masses and the W and Seemax for the high rollers.

Nikon SeeMax + feature of Impression FreeSign + feature of Zeiss i.Scription

    • Nikon Presio i is one of the best semi-finished PALs.
    • Nikon Presio W is better than Physio 360 & Ipseo in overall performance and it's much better in a small frame at fitting height 16 mm
    • Nikon SeeMax and Rodenstock Multigressive MyView is very close overall performance.
    • Nikon SeeMax + feature of Impression FreeSign + feature of Zeiss i.Scription = The worlds best hi-end PALs for 2008 and i can sell at 5,000 US$ per pair for retail price tag.

The retail price of SeeMax PALs index 1.6 in Thailand

The retail price of SeeMax PALs index 1.6 in Thailand is twice as expensive than in Canada, it may be because the mark up price of distributors in Thailand is not the same in Canada. ( Don't forget that , the total taxes in Thailand is only 30% of Canada and the salary for Doctor of optometry , dispensing optician and all staff is only 20% of Canadian rate ). I don't sell Nikon lenses because I don't like the policy of the distributors in Thailand.
