    ABO Today!

HI Eveyone, I'm new to this posting thing, but I took the ABO today. I'm so excited I think I did well. I know I didn't know all the answers though. Does anyone know about how many you need to get right to pass out of 100? If anyone knows it will really put me at ease. Thank you! And Good Luck to Everyone else who took it today or will be taking it in Nov.

I took the ABo also this past weekend and its my understanding that you have to score a 70% or better to pass.

Good luck to all of us!

Yeah, I heard 70% also, but I don't understand this Raw scaling score thing in the handbook. Also I believe it takes exactly 2 months for the results. (That is so nerve racking.) Well good luck eveyone.

For the ABO, the passing score is a 70 and for the NCLE it is 72. As far as the scoring goes, I understood it to be that certain answers were weighted and you get more credit for answering a more detailed question (ex. figuring prism) versus a definition type question (ex. What is blepharitis?). I'm not exactly sure. How do you all think you did?? Let me tell you from personal experience, I failed it the first time and the biggest mistake I made was waiting 4 years to take it again. I wish I had taken it the very next time it was offered. Take it while it is still fresh on your mind, study hard, and good luck!!

Do a search on the Angoff Procedure, it's how most certifications are scored. A panel of experts in the field usually takes and rates the questions as to difficulty and the scores will differ dependent on which test you took.

If you took a test filled with hard questions you will need to get fewer correct to pass, if you took a test with all easy questions then you will need more corret answers to pass, chances are the various versions of the test are a good mix of difficult and easy questions, but their is no easy answer for how many questions you need to get right to pass as each question could potentially be worht more than the previous or next.

Congrats ! I received my letter today as well and I passed ! Now we get to wait 10 whole weeks to receive our certificates.
Then for 3 years we still get to do the continuing education credits. Does anyone know exactly how that works? Is there a web site where we can always do them for free..... like 20/20?

Ok, congrats to all of you who has passed the test. I'm excited & nervous at the same time 'cause I will take this test in the next few months, and I'm just afraid that I am unprepared. Can you guys shared your experience about this test, how you prepared for this, etc..? Is there a study guide or practice for this?

    Thanks
