How many remember the "Old" board???

How many on the board remember the old board which would be twice removed from this one???

I know Pete will, Shwing, Me, Darryl, Steve (of course) Judy (I think) and maybe Harry a saake other than that I can't remember anymore of the "furniture" like ourselves at the present time. So with a show of hands or feet or whatever, let's see how many of us old timers from the early optiboard days there are still floating around.

I'm glad you brought this up Darris. Many people don't realize that I started OptiBoard back in 1995! You, Pete, Shwing, Darryl, Judy and Bev Heishman have been around for quite a while, but I'm not sure who has been here from the beginning.

I vaguely remember the excitement I felt when I saw the first post on OptiBoard. Unfortunately I don't remember the poster, or the topic. Also, the original Board ran on a very old script that did not allow me to save old messages. This meant I had to delete messages once the total reached 1000, otherwise it would take too long to load the page.

We've come a long way since then. Not only is the Board busier and more popular than ever, but I'll never be forced to delete worthwhile messages again. In fact, there are forums running this software that have over 1 million posts and 50,000 members!

OptiBoard will continue to grow thanks to all of you! My sincere thanks to everyone who's become part of the OptiBoard Community. :D

Let's see ... this is my third version of OptiBoard. I think I was only around for the last few months of version one. I seem to recall coming in on a discussion of formal education. I know Laurie Pierce, Sam Hamadani, Bob Rihl (and other members of his NAOO), Walt and Judy were some of the other posters around at that time.

I remember the old board. I was only on for several months before it was changed over to the first new board. Ironically the day the old board was shut down was the day I took the ABO:) Yes the new and improved optiboard is much better than the old board. I like the fact that you don't have to scroll through all the old messages to find the new ones. On the old board I found that I missed quite a few new posts simply because I didn't realize new posts had been added. Bravo to Steve for this board. Job well done. And of course let us not forget how cool the smilies are:drop: :bbg: ;) :D

I remember when Steve published some pictures of his family on the beach somewhere in CA,It took me about an hour and a half to download with my old MAC SE 20.I kept saying to myself...These better be good pictures for the time they took.......they weren't...Due to MY MACHINE of course!I kept saying to myself....How did he do THAT! Here we are...years later.....and I'm still asking the same question! (If you don't believe me check my post of last week in Q&A)

Other than my wife, family and golf,I honestly can't remember anything that has kept my interest and attention for so long.Its a testament to our industry and to all of you.Thanks for thinking of it Steve.

Steve...Yeah, the first Optiboard where all of the posts were displayed in a "zig zag" formation on the monitor. If we missed a few days, it was scroll, scroll and more scrolling.

I didn't matter, though. Back then, who knew the difference? Congrats to you for keeping us Optiboarders up to snuff cyber style.

I used to get quite irate when I re-formatted my PC and then went on the old board, I had no idea what messages I had read.

THe new cookie system is far superior.
