TRANSITIONS ANNOUNCES 2008 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Initiative to Award $500 Grants to Outstanding Opticianry and Optometry Students
PINELLAS PARK, Fla., March 25, 2008 – Committed to supporting the opticians and optometrists of the future, Transitions Optical, Inc. has announced the continuation of its scholarship program in 2008. Supported by the Transitions® Healthy Sight for Life Fund, the initiative will award $500 scholarships to outstanding students under the 2008 theme: Focus on Healthy Sight Counseling.

All students currently enrolled in an accredited opticianry or optometry program in North America are eligible to apply for the program. To be considered for a scholarship, students must create a project exploring one aspect of Healthy Sight Counseling – Vision Care, Vision Wear or Education. Scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate a clear understanding of one of these topics, and how to integrate it into practice.

“We are excited to continue this program for the second year as a way to show our support to the next generation of opticians and optometrists – who play a major role in delivering healthy sight messages to patients,” said Carole Bratteig, manager, education and training, Transitions. “We look forward to seeing the finished projects and encourage all students to integrate the three components of Healthy Sight Counseling into their own practices to promote a lifetime of healthy sight for every patient.”

Students are encouraged to submit projects of any length and format (research paper, video, presentation, poster, etc.) by the May 15, 2008 deadline. Winners will be announced by June 15, 2008. Projects should be submitted to education@transitions.com, or via mail to Transitions Scholarship Program; c/o Euro RSCG Worldwide PR; 4 PPG Place; Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
