:idea:2ND SHIFT

POSITION PURPOSE:
This position will oversee and direct the activities of traditional surfacing. This position will be responsible for managing the day to day operations providing a quality product on time and within budget. This position will also have significant responsibilities in the areas of customer relations, process improvement and project management for projects throughout the lab.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Direct and oversee all operations for of responsibility to ensure acceptable levels of quality and performance.
· Through group leads, ensure proper training is provided to employees on all processes and equipment.
· Lead large scale projects throughout the lab for the purposes of improving process flow and through put.
· Analyze problems that arise and determine actions that will minimize the problems, decrease costs and/or improve yields, recommend changes, upon approval, implement those changes.
· Maintain department budget including labor and equipment costs.
· Work with leads to ensure proper communication and coaching of employees is done on a consistent basis according to company policy.
· Maintains performance records on all employees; communicates performance levels to each employee routinely; and coaches employees on methods and techniques for improving performance.
· Assist in analyzing and recommending the purchase of new equipment for the lab as needed.
· Ensure that all safety standards are maintained in the work area.
· Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School graduate or equivalent with proven on the job management experience working in a production environment.
· Proven positive customer relations abilities and experience is required.
· Previous experience in an Optical Lab production environment by providing technical knowledge, proper leadership and career development to direct reports.
· Demonstrated competence in supervisory skills: motivating employees to meet performance goals, strong communication skills, comfortable with coaching and training individuals and teams.
· Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office applications.
· Previous experience working with statistical analysis tools to gather and report data.
· Previous experiences working with technical equipment preferred.
