    ? handling change outs

I was wondering - since OBVS. we need to start replacing these as a Pair - and not single lenses -

but as i recall - last time - there where always a lag - and our labs had left over stock - that could be utilized -

in these circumstances - when a new product line comes out - does the parent company do an ENTIRE SWITCH out - and take back old product ? or do u sell thru it ?

was wondering - how this was handled usually ?
do u work in a small lab - or Wholesale lab ?

wonder how - say an Essilor AR labs handles this ? knowing them - they prob. will send us the old stuff - till they run out and call it transition 6 ?

    who knows -

    thanks for the info

Most labs could return old stock up to a certain date, thus the short order syndrone we had in Jan. They don't want it. Each lab will come up with a policy to do pair replacements on recent order re-dos. Call your lab. I am retail. If you don't like the answers, get a new lab.

Our blanks went back in the begining of January when I heard news, since then I hav been ordering them in piece by piece. I do that to avoid any price decrease from our distribution center.

    Launch was Feb 1st

The changeover started last summer in decreasing inventories on B and C items. Lens Manufacturers and Labs managed inventories down as the 2007 closed. Transitions VI shipments to labs started in late December.

Labs were to carry a two week inventory in January. Most cut back even tighter. Some Next Generation and Transitions V products were distressed so the launch moved to the week of Jan 14th.

Check with your lab and lens manufacturer, a few products have a March 17 rollout.

I have attached a pdf of the current dispensor guide

    Fade back speed

Does anyone know how the fade back speed compares to Transitions V? Or is Transitions VI geared to warmer climates?

    Fade Back for Transitions VI

    Hello Dahuk,
First of all, you are in England, Europe will not have Transitions VI until 2009.

To answer your question, Transitions VI is slightly faster than Transitions V fadeback from full darkness to 70% transmission. The bigger difference in fade is that from 70% transmission back to clear (89%) it does not lag.

Transitions VI darkens to 12% transmission, whereas Transitions V darkened to 16%. Transitions V is directional to the sun, where Transitions VI is not as sensitive.

In short, Transitions VI took the best of V (speed) and the best of Next Generation (darkness in warm weather and indoor clarity) and combined them.

    regards,
    Jim

I hate to hear all that corporate speile about "this is better" and "new and improved", but . . . .

    Trans VI is much better.

I have dispensed a half dozen pair of Trans VI in poly and Trivex and actually got a pair for myself last week. Trans VI is MUCH better. Darker, faster and clearer indoors. Also, I compared a new stock Trans VI poly against a Trans V poly and the new Trans VI is indeed a more pleasing true grey color. No brown or blue/purple hue. The Trans VI is clearer in the unactivated state and darker in the activated state.
