I admit, I'm madly jealous of their flying skills, but there's no possible way you could pay me enough to do that.:)

Sees to me that I saw a flying circus movie or read a book about this and they didn't want to do it as the "flyers" kept getting delusional on the way down and actually thought they could fly. Kept forgetting to pull parachute rip chord.

Chip, you are probably referring to the MGM movie "Gypsy Moths" with Burt Lancaster. I was fortunate to have had a brief conversation with the legendary Carl Boenish before his death in a base jumping accident. Carl was a pioneer in freefall photography and he filmed most of the freefall scenes for the movie. It brought the world of freefall to many of the public for the first time. The movie was about a trio of barnstorming skydivers who performed death-defying skydiving stunts, including "the cape" which, in the movie, was a very early version of a wingsuit, but led its wearers to lose concentration or "situation awareness." In the movie one of the wearers does indeed "go in" wearing the cape.
Peregrinerose, does one still "go in" or is there a new generation of euphemisms for what Candian Parachutist magazine used to call "ground deceleration."

that looks like it would take a tremendous amount of muscle control keeping spread eagle with the air pressure on the wings (?)

Yep, one still 'goes in' :) I am a little jealous that you knew Carl. However, Handsome Dave Dewolf is my neighbor, and I'm going to Eloy with him next week for 4 days. Whheeeeeeeee :bbg::bbg::bbg::bbg::bbg::bbg::bbg::bbg:
