Almost par now.

Not enough!
I would say slightly better than a clerk at Rite-Aide, but less than a greeter at Wally-Mart.
Don't get too excited about moving to Cannada. I think the Cannadians have laws that require the opticians to know what they are doing!:D
You should at least buy me a drink before asking personal questions like that.:D
When I was younger, still living at home, and making minimum wage at a convienence store I was driving a new car and had money to spend.
now I'm lucky I can afford mac and cheese and am driving a 8 year old station wagon even though I'm making 4 times more.
I'm sorry I can't resist.Do you know ALL the letters in the alphabet?

I'm going to go out on a limb here genzcop. An optician, even in an unlicensed state can make a decent income (depending on your idea of decent). However, an optician that cannot put together a grammatically correct sentence will not likely get promoted much past the back room. At least in many offices.
Let me ask - Do you think is it just about the money or does how much you enjoy the job come in to play at all. I work with 1,000's of opticians all over the UK and almost all of them say they dont do it just for the money.
I'll also go out on a limb here and guess that genzcop was not born in the USA, and learned English as a second language. I'm also guessing, judging from his other posts, that he's not going to let his less than perfect English stand in the way of his success!

I can give you a loan, but it's gotta be in mac or cheese and no you can't have both. :D

It is amazing how many people learn english as a second language which by the way is a difficult laguage compared to others. Laguag and text are simply used for comunication, if you understood what he was asking then who cares what the grammer or spelling is like. I often will be typing while putting a job in the generator, or blocker, or finer, or polisher, or you name the other task that I perform in the office so to me spelling is not as important as getting the message across, which can often be doen alot quicker without having to worry about grammer and punctuation, and what not. I also learned english as a second language and although most wouldn't be able to tell (with exception of after spending a bunch of time with my family).

What's a "salary"? I work for a living.
I apologize if this is the case as I hadn't thought of that. Success is all about hard work and belief in one's abilities. Plus a little luck. Imperfect English doesn't matter in a lab setting but out front in sales and customer service it certainly does and I'm a stickler for it. Sorry.
