    German frame recommendations?

I've got an approximately 50 year-old Chinese patient who I saw yesterday for an exam. He wants something German or Japanese, nothing from any of the other common frame-producing countries.

He wants them to be durable but lightweight.

    Any suggestions?
    -Steve

As of 8 months ago. That was the last I dealt with them. One of the best manufacturers of titanium for the price out there, IMHO.

*don't work or benifit by the above.

    Neostyle is German

Morel's Oga is made in France - would that work?

Clarity's Konishi line is lightweight Japanese titanium and stainless

Shibumi is gold and platinum and their companion line - Exxotica - adds wood or horn temples. THis is the finest german hardware with Japanese plating. Eye Level Corp is the supplier. Pretty good price for high-end stuff. PM me if you want the phone number. There is a minimum, so I might be able to help you if you only want one. They are all drill mounts.

Don't look for too much snazz, but Seiko is quite available.

Don't forget that many lines still have remnants of Nippon titanium, common as Flexon!

Yeah, I wear a Silhouette TMA and he said they look too flimsy, despite the fact that our return rate is extremely low within the 2 year warranted time period.

The guy is of the scientist/engineer type at a large University here and doesn't really care about high style, if you catch my drift.

There is a new men's elegance rimless model due to be released here in Canada in March, however, the US should have them now. They are made of titan but have the appearance & feel a little stronger than TMA.

    Good Luck!

Good point about Silhouette. Most of what we do with them is the TMA line, but I always forget about their other stuff. I would think Austrian Titanium with jive with this guy.

Did I mention he lives two doors down from me? :)

I've had great success with Mikado (Germany) and Mykita. I also seem to remember that Minima has an "asian" bridge config as well.

Go for Mykita. Nothing better on the market. High end that sell better than bread & beer in Germany. Plus they have large PD as well as small one. http://www.mykita.com
    All the best

Oga is a Scandinavian designer and Morel is a very fine French manufacturing company. They have been making frames for 4 generations. They also have the Koali line. We can't keep them in stock. Best buy ever. Excellent quality and service. And the price is perfect, considering the euro/dollar exchange rate.

    Schnuchel

True german hand made frames. Dr. Schnuchel hand makes all of the frames. His P3's and P2's are beautiful. Really beuatiful finishes of all kinds.

    Mykita VS ProDesign, if comparable.

Someone asked me via PM my opinion about Mykita vs ProDesign. I would say these 2 lines are really compatible, and different. I would not hesitate to have both line under the same roof. They both attract a very bold customer. Mykita tend to attract more men and often architect, doctor or businessmen, bold enough to wear it. I sell the gold line and small pd ones to women. You can fit up to -6 sph with an Hi index 1.70. It's beautiful. Above that, it's not good. Plus it will unbalance the frame. In the opposite of ProDesign, Mykita is in mono colors. So it's really 2 different lines. Price wise, about the same. thanks for the Euro vs $$$

How is using a proper adjective considered derogatory?

It's not derogatory per se. I just think that the statement should refer to what the product is, then one can state a situation that it can be used. Sorry to have sounded so rude...

    German frame recommendations

Try Seiko frames. Very high quality, all titanium, and all made in Japan.
