    Election Year

Last night I was working on projections for next year, (Mr. Procrastinator) and got to thinking about election year sales. I did see a drop in sale the year leading up to the last election and was wonder if any other board members have seen election years slump in sales.

    Do recessions cause elections?:hammer:

    James,

The election angle is one I've never looked that closely at, but it's an interesting way to look at it.

Typically elections cause temporary hysteria for some reason. I have noted the impact on sales for many years. Generally not this far from election time though. I know that in this state in particular sales are down. Michigan is having a hard time right now. Blame it on the auto industry if you like but the housing situation has me more spooked. The salvation of Michigan may come down to the one thing this state has that others need, water. We aren't likely to let it go cheap either.

Nah, that's the lovely Detroit River or the Tittabawasee River near Dow Chemical. The great lakes are actually clean especially Lake Superior and the many inland lakes are mostly clean. The next thing you know ole Jed's a millionaire....:bbg:

I agree with James....Elections make people nervous.

More specifically, it makes old people nervous, starting about july. I notice numbers july though december to be lower election years.

as history dictates this time shoud be a demacrat...so far recessions have been avoided by them...and a booming economy has been their strong point!!

Clinton part 2?...shes got my vote...they taught at mount union (and all other Ivy league) that Bill Clinton has been (economically) the best president history has ever seen....Hillary with her amazing foreign policies, and Bill with his economic genious...would meen businesses would be booming in 2009 (mabye 2010, things might have to settle)...this country is far more comfortable with a demacrat in office (there are more poor people than rich or well off, its the Higher middle to lower class that dictates economy, as long as they are taken care off...well all be OK)...just my take (damn business degree...to bad im too damn hyper to sit at a desk all day!!)...(just wish they could have taught me a good way to remember how to spell properly!!).

Ok, my common sense tells me that Lake St. Clair would be the one to avoid simply because it is the most accessable to the metropolitan area of Detroit and has the most boaters and public areas. Also it is close to manufacturing plants and freighters. That being said, Lake St. Clair is where metro Detroit gets it's drinking water supply and pumps it to the suburbs. Quite honestly, it is still the best tasting tap water I have had.

    Thanks Harry

I'll look to see if there's a month in particular where the customers start to pucker.

By the way, which great lake do you think has the best tasting water.

One should not drink straight lake water but if one would have the notion to do so I would recommend Lake Superior for the water as well as the air is pretty pristine in the U.P.
