    Slab-off progressive

Has any lab been able to remove (buff) the slab-off line outside the corridor in a slab-off PAL. Is it doen by hand or what?

:) Blended slab-offs are a reality at Cherry Optical. I'd tell you who we get them from but then everyone would know....

I love the "we ordered this as a slab off and it's not" phone calls...... :) It's there.... You really have to look for it. More importantly it works visually for the patients. It now makes sense to fit progressives on slab off Rxs.

Anyone thought of how easy it would be to make a "blended slab off) with a different curve than the origional, thereby creating a "blended executive" which seems to be what Sandeep and others are asking for in a full width "progressive?"
Wouldn't be progressive but add and distance would have a whole lot less distortion (at least in low adds) than true progressives.

Chip, I have had to really polish some Tangent Streaks over the years, to the point that the line was completely polished out. They always still worked and the patients were grateful for the polishing. I never could see why the slab-off line could not be similarly polished.
