    MacBook Pro

Well I have been looking for a while now at new laptops, I do not use desktops because I like to be mobil, so I had decided on a MacBook Pro. Mainly because I have heard horror stories about Vista and PC Mag review on the OS said that a Mac ran Windows faster than PC's that were built for Windows. I must say I am really pleased and amazed at how easy the transition was. If I need a program that needs Windows I can run Windows on a Mac, although I am trying to switch completely. All in all very pleasurable experience.

Welcome to the "dark side" Brent. I've been an Apple/Mac user for about 11 years now. I don't think I will ever switch back. Windows 95 OS was it for me, after that just so many problems with those darn things.

:D Congrats on your purchase, it does cost more but for sure a great investment.

    :cheers:Michelle

Welcome to the world of counter culture! I've been an Apple customer since the eighties. My first was an Apple II! Don't believe the horror stories you hear. Its a great product with excellent support. What do you need windows for?

I do not think the savings are all that much, I mean yes you can buy a Dell laptop for $500.00, but you do not get what you need (IMO). My last laptop was $2500.00, and this one was $2500.00 with some software that I thought I needed.

Well I am finding out that I do not. I do, however, program in Visual Basic so I will still program for a while.

I know. I did like Visual Basic, it was easy to pick up especially since I do not have a lot of time and I am self taught.

    Congrats

Congrats on making the jump to OS X platform - I too was very hesitant on making the switch 4 yrs ago - I thought I would have a hard time - esp with not having all the windows app - Back then - I had to do Virtual PC - i have to admit - I prob opened it maybe 2 or 3 times - and never even used it - now i did not use a windows app - that i depended on - however since i got my new macbook pro 3 mnths ago - I did load windows onto it - just because i could - I do like parallels Much better then boot camp so i personally would suggest going this route - I know they are shipping boot camp with the new os just released - much the upgrade to parallels is worth it -

YOU will be amazed at the great service provided by apple - and I would DEFINANTLY go with apple care - esp since you are a new user - it helped me a lot when i 1st made the change - plus - the logic board issue that i had with my old ibook - would have killed me to get it fixed -

as for the higher price - i to have been told this - but there was recent,y a great artical on this - that showed this was so untrue - esp when you look at the resale values - of macs vs pcs -

You will be amazed also at the mac community - and how helpful everyone is - and the amount of free apps - out there -

i would keep versiontracker.com in your bookmarks - it is a great site

    anyways - congrats !!!!!

Hey thanks for the replies. I have looked at the sites you have given and they are pretty cool.

I even put an Apple sticker on my car. I feel really cool I guess I am a Mac follower.
