What if ANSI standards were applied to LASIK??

I got thinking about this the other day, when discussing another of those sensational "eyeglass exposes", wherein the correction is taken to different optical establshments, the glasses are purchased, and then taken to any independent testing facility to see if they were made "right"

Oh horrors! So many glasses were not made "right" when checked against the only benchmark we currently have, the Ansi STANDARDS.

"Will you certainly do damage to your eyes and vison by wearing a lens 0.02 diopters beyond the ansi tolerance for that parameter??"

Thought experiment:

What if ANSI eyeglasses tolerance standards were applied to lasik with respect to the "advertised" refarctive outcome.

my 3 cents worth today...

eyeglases, contacts and refractive surgery."
