    Talk about inventory control

    http://www.livescience.com/technolog...facturing.html

all you need is a couple picture sof frames , a bunch of color swatches, then print the frame, And presto, You won't have to carry all that inventory or see any frame reps. You'll just deal with raw material suppliers... Hey, Chris can you get me one of these.

I wonder if you can print lenses too, hmmm

    here are some video's

seems like it would have to print faster to be ecomonical , however offering truly one of a kind frames could allow you to charge through the roof to the right market.

Graduate Student Invents "Printer" for Low-Cost Eyeglasses

April 5, 2004. MIT doctoral student Saul Griffith ... developed a "desktop printer" for eyeglass lenses [using] a patent-pending ... molding technology [that could produce] almost any [lens] prescription in [ten minutes or less] and using about forty cents' worth of materials ...

Saul Griffith with his prototype Rx lens molding technology: The device uses hydraulic pressure to shape a deformable membrane, which becomes the mold surface. This prototype used car window tinting film and a reservoir of mineral oil ... A large range of lens types, covering the majority of prescriptions, could be cast from two such mold surfaces.
