Have not seen one word about first day of VEW which had its first day yesterday.
All the Optiboard members sitting on their laptops in the hotelrooms, having jetlag and are awake early, could put in some words about the happenings. :finger:

that's because I won't be there until today and that's when the party starts!:bbg:

My people went off gambling and manning the booth. I am here manning the store. They will be happy (when they sober up) to learn, I closed a sale!!

Chris,
The Optiboard members that I hung out with thought it was a great show, as I did also.
Optigirl was busy writing orders, and we didn't get a chance to talk until after the show on Thursday when we went out for drinks. I can see she's a great rep, and could probably sell ice cubes to Eskimos.

I was too busy to worry about bringing a laptop. I'm home now and it's 1:00am. "Vegas Time" says I stay up for about 6 more hours.:bbg:
I didn't meet anyone from optiboard and I am sad about it. We had WAY TOO much planned in a short time. I skipped a few classes and meetings I had set up because of time constraints. Try not to be too sad Sabrina. We still have Optiboard.
My review:
1. It was big
2. They say there were 13,000 opthalmic professionals in attendence.
3. The "hall monitors" must have been trained by former SS officers.
4. I think the quality of speakers was better than last year.
5. I took too many classes. I shouldn't waste Vegas time for CE. I can waste Kansas time for that.
6. I saw lots more direct factory frame marketing than last year. The Chinese are very competitive going direct to wholesale.
7. I wasn't invited to the Marchon party, but I crashed it anyway.
8. A 10oz Filet is about $35 most places. But all the food is GREAT.
9. I lost $42 at the tables. So on average, that entertainment cost me $12/hr.
10. A bottle of vodka at the Tao nightclub costs $325. The "cheap" tables have a 2 or 3 bottle minimum.
11. And lastly, I can't tell you what else I did because well, you couldn't handle the truth anyway.![]()
For VEE or VEW we should sell OB t-shirts. You guys can go down there like a clan.
Well, said hi to Shanbaum-he thinks we met before and I cannot remember doing so..... (btw Chris, I don't actually drink but I do get to watch everyone else get silly and can be counted on stone cold sober to be silly, loud and lots of fun) and hung out with Keith from Laramy K for a few minutes. We were supposed to meet Jacqui on Sat but she got sick and wasn't able to come. Got there Friday around noon and the floor was pretty busy. Heard Thursday was busy for some and dead for others. Saturday did not get busy until around 11-12ish. Was caught by suprise about VSP buying Legends and usually I know stuff before everyone but Mark from Hoya does....Had a nice dinner with the Zeiss people and hubby bought me a cool Coach purse. That about sums it up for me.

Glad you had fun, Karen. I, unfortunately had to be in a hospital with several dozen incredibaly good looking, single Doctors.

Don't feed the Beast...
was busy thur and friday, sat did start off slow, saw shanbaum, judy and a few others, was mostly hanging around the revolution booth, oh those babes, last night i went to the stratosphere to go clubbing, and while i had to wait to get in i figured i ,d play a penney slot, this 400 pound lady came running at me and decided that was the machine she was going to play and yelled as she landed in the chair GOTCHA, i said okay and moved over two machines , stuck in a twenty, went for the 2 cent bet and on the third try the slot machine went crazy with free spins and i won 550.00, i could not resist , i showed to the lady, should have heard her yell then.
Class attendance was huge. I had about 150 -190 in every course. The show floor was good. I saw a good bit of business being written. I didn't get a chance to see any Optiboarders, but knew I probably wouldn't.

I had a ball! Our booth was busy. Saw lots of OBers, Harry S, Ilanh, Tom Borden, Uni-Clip(Acuity),Laurie P among others plus a few from my notorious past. Had a company dinner on Thursday and couldn't seem to catch up with anyone after that.
My feet hurt and I'm exhausted...just enough time to rest up before OLA!
Proud OptiBoarder since 1995!
Had alot of fun being on the other side of the table this year! Got to meet Johns (who is just the sweetest, nicest person) and learned about business from the master! James Herman met us at Shanbaum's booth along with Barry Santini. James is a VERY nice guy, but he doesn't want to ruin his reputation...:bbg:
One of our lines, the Nicole Miller Luxe Collection won VEW's new product award!!!! I had the opportunity to meet Mary Kane, Editor in Chief of Vision Monday and they are doing a little blurb on it, so pick it up if you can. There is a picture of our President, Michael Prince accepting the award.
I picked up so much information because I got to see optiboarders in action. I think we should have an official meet and greet if we can every time! I'm truly sorry I missed out on meeting Judy Canty. I really wanted to meet her in person. She and I did the text-tag thing but never could coordinate. I would love to buy her a drink!
Sorry I missed DrNeyecare - actually was at our booth!, Framebender never called, and I didn't realize so many others were at VEW as well. It sounds like everybody (even Jacqui) had fun though!
I *might* go to VEE, will see how things go. I would have a little more freedom with my time if I did, but since we reps have to pay our own expenses I'll have to see if I can afford to go. Would be fun, though!
...And MarcE owes me a drink and a pic of his lovely glasses!
