    Bifocal for very high plus

A kid just came in with an Rx for +14.50 +0.50 OU with a 3.00 add. He's wearing a FT28. The family has VSP. PD is 24/24.5 distance, 23/23.5 near.

Ordinarily with an Rx like this I'd go with a Bristolite full-field aspheric CR39 FT28. Does anyone have any other ideas?

    Thanks y'all :D

Have you checked with companies like X-cel, Vision-ese, and Younger?? Seems as though one of them did or does produce something like you need.

Aire-O-Lite has some round seg lenticular field lenses. So does Signet Armorlite z9round as well).

    Best of luck!

    Thanks Jacquie and Bob.

With this Rx and the kid's PD, and a 43-18 frame, would you go with a full-field aspheric or a lenticular? He's wearing a lenticular bowl now. I admit I prefer the aspheric full-field for visual clarity but the edge might a bit overwhelming . . .

    Thanks. :)

I would probably order a Super Modular Aspheric in rd22.

If he's wearing a lenticular, keep him in one.

Thanks Dragon and Jacquie. Jacquie, I'm curious: considering the kid's age (8), do you think he'd really have a problem adapting to the image changes in the aspheric design?

Bristolite also release a full field polycarbonate ft 28 14.75 base (1.598 index) that should do nicely.

Thank you! Very helpful for a kid that age.

I'm not totally sure, but I have a tendency to err toward the safe side.
