Thumbs up Boy's Father Buys Him A Role In Will Ferrell Movie for $47,000

    :D
I guess it was for a good cause, too. I wish my father had $47,000 to spend on me, hehe.

If you read the fine print, it's as an extra and no lines. Last I heard people got payed as extras. I guess it's true there's a sucker born everyday.

Not anymore. Look at the yahoos on all those reality shows. They will "work" for free. There are thousands of unemployed "actors". It's simply a matter of supply and demand. As a movie/TV director why would I pay an actor that has no lines when I could just ask if anyone wants to do it for free. Many aspiring actors would. And some will apparently pay for it.

If I were producing a movie, I would hire a big name actor and then open the other spots for bids. "For only $50,000 you can have the chance to work with Tom Hanks." You would still have to audition, though.

The movies have always been a hot spot for corruption and nepotisim.
Ever notice how many Hollywood types end up with their children working in show biz. Many of whom can't act, aren't pretty, can't sing or whatever. Of course, some can.

But Buying ones kid a ticket into stardom, or using ones influcence (anyone know who Torri Spelling's dad is?) is common practice. And of course there is the casting couch. Why does this supprise or upset anyone?

Shoot in Mississippi it's not uncommon to appoint one's spouse to fill the unexpired term of expired politicians (just like she would have a clue about how to do the job.)

Life isn't fair but then I am not always either.

    Am I missing something...

This was an auction to earn money for a very good cause. I applaud the actor and the father for the donation to the cause. I don't see this as buying a part.

Heck, you think that's bad? Here we elected a dead guy and his wife had to take his place after he won the election. He died several weeks before the election and they could not remove him in time.

That's the trouble with today's society... no personal responsibility. I would have made him serve his time in office anyway.
