    Question Vision Expo West

This is not my first time at a Vision Expo (went to the Vision Expo East in N.Y. last March), nor is it my first time in Vegas. It is, however my first Vision Expo West. I felt very unprepared when I went to the one in March. I was definitely not dressed the part. It seemed kind of stuffy, A LOT of suits. If there are any experienced Vision Expo West-ians I could use some in put. I really want to go for the experience and to be able to network and see what's new. But I want to be able to relax and enjoy myself. I really don't know what to expect.

Definitely dress casual at VEW. It's a lot lighter show than VEE. That's why I like it more. Even exhibitors like myself don't wear suits.......See you in 2 weeks.

VEE ~ not a casual... VEW - have some fun and just go with what you are comfortable with. A lot of people attend in shorts due to the Vegas heat. <---that is how casual it can be.

I felt the same way you did about VEE - a bit more "buttoned-up". Most everybody will be operating on fumes by day 2 and dress during the day is hot and sexy if you're young and wrinkled and hungover if you're not so young.

Up in the Towers you'll see people dressing more to impress. On the floors, some of us poor schmucks will be wearing company-appointed gear so if you see me pretend like I'm fashionable.

I think they pump oxygen into the casinos so you can stay up later than normal and your more prone to do crazy things than normal.

Not me, of course. Everybody else.

And don't forget to stop by Marchon and get your wristband - I hear their party is infamous and last year over 20k people strong!

VEW is not one of my plans this year, especially since it is so close to Canada's expo (which I am still trying to make that happen) and also the thanksgiving holiday here in Canada. Plus a few other family BIG events.

I would love to meet all of you, but honestly, I've been to sooooo many Expo's that I am a bit burnt out.

Now the ones in Europe, those I would love to do...

I would love to go to Silmo or Mido as well. Glad it's not happening this year, World Cup or something so hotels are probably impossible to get...

    Oh well, maybe someday (*sigh*)

Sorry you won't be in Vegas. Just the same - I have to actually WORK the show this year!

at VEW a few years ago, that is how I dressed. Even at VEE 2 years ago, I wore jeans and polo's, didn't shave everyday. If the hoity toity vendors looked at me with their nose up, who cares. They broke the number one rule of sales: don't ever think you can see in my wallet.

I just bought my first suit in 10 years for funerals and vacation, as that is the only time I wear one.

Its true, vacations are the only time I wear a suit. We like to cruise the carribean in the winter, formal nights ya know. Last year never even put it on.

So VEE is the place to dress nice? Well I guess I'm gonna try and go next year. If you see the fool in the cut off shorts, sandals and "Free Hugs!" T-Shirt with a drink in hand that would be me!:D Just remember that hugs are free but happy endings cost extra!!! Johns and Fezz better pay up for that!:finger:

Sorry Pal(s), you're not catching me dressed up to run all over NYC, or Vegas for that matter!

At VE, it's jeans, open collars, and maybe (if it's cool out) a sports jacket.
At VW, it Cargo shorts (lots of pockets to hold brochures until I get to the next trash can.), t-shirts, and comfortable tennis shoes or docksiders.

Judge me by what I wear all day long...I'll be at the small, one table booths, or at the hotel room shows anyway. I'm not one of the yanks that's going to be shaking hands and smiling on the cover of VM the following week.

Life's too short to be uncomfortable...
