After Hrs... Help with Double D Seg info?

Anyone know after hrs, if I can get a Double D Bifocal Seg in Poly? If I remember correctly, it's only available in CR39 or Glass... hmmm. Optician is requesting Double D, Poly, & Trans! Sounds like a dream!

    Thanks,.

I am pretty sure it is only available in plastic clear, glass clear, and photogray extra.

You might be able to have something custom ground. The cost could be prohibitive. Something to consider is a quality press on seg. There are higher quality ones than the normal 3M 'lined' variety. Nice and clear.

You could have Three Rivers Optical make you a backside double round seg in poly trans. Cost you out the wazoo though.

Just like you would measure a standard lined bifocal. Seperation is 13mm.

I once offered a guy a pair of DDs and his eyes just about popped out of his head. Unfortunately I fall into that range. I will never use that terminology again. Although we did have a good laugh.

Also they could take a FT and put a round seg on the top (or bottom). You could get Trivex FT28 Trans w/ a round seg.

They already make a badass blended slab-off. Blend EXEC would be a can of corn.

    I have

a guy who wants me to make him an upside down progressive.
Anybody had any requests for this?
He wants to be able to see int./near straight on and do a little head raise for distance.

The Overview is discountinued, I believe, so you are going to have to either engineer an upside standard PAL (just get PD and height correct) and I believe edge them R 4 L.... OR! Perhaps talking to a specials lab like Quest who might have more experience in this type of lens.

Odd's are it won't work the way the patient wants.... So get ready for mutiple remakes, delays, and complaints.

Talk about a specialty lens... what kind of work does he do to need something like that?

Switch Right for Left as Adam mentioned when edging and don't mess with any prism thinning as it will create more headaches than it's worth.

Not to mention the fit is going to require a 6-12o retroscopic tilt, so your are going to have to see if this is going to effect fit (mashing his eyebrows).

Post the Rx and I could at least give you the Rx to order if you want to edge it yourself.

    I know

believe me I won't make this lens. It has reamke written all over it.
It's for photography. I told him pal's are a no go and DD's ar ehis only option. And he doesn't want them sitting up high.

So he want a short corridor upside down progressive. I don't blame you for showing him the door. Usually I just price the lens at $800.00 with no options and tell them it's ultra specialty. I figure if they are willing to pay it, then I'm willing to make it. Give htem a back story about the lenses being imported and your only going to get one shot at it, and just do a bunch of math on the work ticket.

    That's funny
Yea, it's the pt who wants wants wants but doesn't want to pay. He was sweating over his Davis copays so I'm not sure what he thought when asking for this type of product. :hammer:

    .

Harry, I don't think it changes the axis turning the lens upside down. But you're right about using a left pal for the right side and right for the left lens for convergance upsidedown.
