    Any non-adapts to newest progressives?

Most of our customers have experienced at least some degree of the "WOW" effect to the new progressives like GT2 , but we just had one that we remade back to a long corridor. She just couldn't adapt to the new technology. Of course, this person has required remakes for Rx changes more than 3 times, also. Other than this person, most people like the newer lenses. Anyone else like the longer corridors better?

No, but most of them either have to be persuaded to "wear and adapt" for two weeks. Or a lot that say that they can't see anything more super wonderfull over what they had before.

We utilize as much free-form as possible and it certainly has produced many "WOWS" of the past 4.5 years we have been using it. The GT2 is not really an advanced design, but a newer molded lens. It does not come close the Zeiss Individual or many of the other free-forms on the market. We use the Kodak Unique, Shamir Autograph and the Seiko design with great success and we don't give the client a choice; If a free-form progressive is available in their RX and material/Base Curve, they get it without any discussion.

I actually pick the lens to be used in all 3 of our locations and our only goal is the most advanced technology available; we feel all clients deserve the best.

Our average sale is about $1,000 and we find most people are more than willing to buy the best when presented properly. We do not take any insurance and this may help our cause. We focus on ensuring the client that any product we offer is as good as it gets. We have no problem offering the best in frames and lenses to everyone who walks thru our doors. We have been doing it as no options since we opened 9 years ago. We do 100% non-glare because it is included on every pair we sell.
It is our niche in the world.

I have read your comments and held back until now; you are a mean old man who has seen his better days pass him by. You are nothing but a hinderence to progress and an example of why opticianary has not progressed into the modern era.
Maybe you should try the modern technolgy before knocking it; you probably tell people all drill mounts fall apart and that they should still wear glass so it does not scratch.

Maybe it is time to retire and stop selling the least expensive products possible and give your poor clients a chance to buy decent products.

    Good luck in Geezerville. :finger:

WE do not sell any CR-39 and we charge $475 for poly, trivex or 1.6 and $550 for 1.67. WE do charge an add-on of $50 for tints and $50 for a mirror coating.
We package all of our prices and it works fine for us.

Craig, I thought you had split with I-Zon lenses or was that just a split with Ophthonix?

I never really gave my clients a choice of what PAL I am going to put them in.

I have one shot, and that is to give them a price. If I pick a lens that is too expensive, they may go somewhere else. If I pick a lower level lens to save money, then I may have missed an opportunity to provide better vision.

Why don't I give them a choice? Because it is extremely difficult to describe the value between changing from an Adapter to a Physio. I have no tangiable example that will be able to convey the information. Is the one lens better than the other? Yes, but is it worth the price difference? That is subjective.

Maybe this is something lens suppliers need to work on.

For us, it is always less to do with the *type* of lens design, and more to do with the refraction that we begin with.

    Optimum refraction = optimal results

Free forms just ice the cake...

BTW, I'm a BIG fan of Comfort...possibly, IMHO, the best all-around progressive ever made...

and I'm sure that they're doin' research now (with HOA's) to figure out why...

A few months ago you talked about sending back your aberrometers and that the technology didn't work. What's changed?
