I actually made a pair for an MD one day. He needed a new pair but his glasses just broke and it was sunday. He had his old Rx that was a year out of date. I told him that I couldn't fill his outdated Rx but mentioned that he was a doctor and could write prescriptions... We got him a cheap pair made up and then he came back and bought four pair from me the next week. Three progs and a near Rx for fly tying.

When you ask the parent if the child knows their "A, B C's" or should we use pics. "Oh, little Johnny knows all his letters." Little Johnny read the smallest line you can read for me." completely reads it all wrong, and mom says "Johnny, you know what a P is." Do the pictures and little Johnny has 20/20. I guess that is "My child is gifted syndrome"

What's really sad is when little Johnny is a sophmore!!:hammer:

I once had a father and mother come in with their kids. That morning they bought a set of frames and lenses somewhere else for the boy. We were the same price, but had a deal with his company for $10 off. They then went back to the place of purchase, cancelled the job, and came here to get their monster savings.

The whole time the kids were tossing each toys at each other and breaking things. The parents ignored them. The one kid really appeared to have mental challenges. I got the prescription and it was +5.00 OU. The father then told me that his kid did not need glasses, because the boy could see the cows in the field.

It is because we are all scam artists. We are all in an integrated conspiracy to make people wear glasses. Reminds me to send my payment into the newspaper, so that they can shrink the print. Mwuahahaha.

We shrink it and then we lighten the print ink. You know, no matter how much light or how you hold the paper, you can't read it. Where is the Snidely K. Whiplash smiley??

The most stupid thing I have ever heard

This was a few years back but I had a pt. come in and ask us to put new medicine on her lenses. She then told me her medicine had rubbed off her lenses. I tried explaining this to her for about ten minutes untill she finally figured out that she needed to get a new exam. The entire time I was trying not to laugh. After she left I went back to the office and laughed my guts out for twenty minutes. :hammer:

An elderly lady walked in to our Vision Center and wanted her old lenses into a new frame. Since the shape of her lenses were last used in 1978, I told her we did not have a frame, metal or plastic, that would fit her lens. She used them for reading, so I suggested over the counter readers. She walked off toward pharmacy, so I returned to filing charts. A few minutes later she came up with one of our demo frames claiming she could see great with them. I explained to her that there was absolutely NO rx in that frame, but she raved about how well she could see. I POPPED THE DEMO LENS OUT to show that it's just plastic. She put the frame back on (without the demo lens in) and still claimed she could see. Out of the goodness of my heart I took her to the OTC readers and found her another pair.

Did you know that "VISION CENTER" translates into "PLEASE DROP OFF YOUR HELLION CHILDREN HERE WHILE YOU SHOP" in many languages?

    Smaller Print

Think back to the days when most ophthalmologist were still ethical and there were only two dispensaries in town. The Phone Book added another colume, we made a fortune from people that were bordering on presbyopia or bordering on needing Rx change for same.

    Oh, gone are the days.

I think we have all heard "Well my obstetrician told me .." !

One time I had a woman tell me that her "Obstetrician told me I had floaters in my eye". Without missing a beat I told her she must have one hell of an obstetrician if they can see that far into her eyes!

I get a little tired of "I can't see when I put on the glasses." I feel like asking the question "you mean you go completely blind when you put these glasses on?"

LOL, I tend to get - "I have a stigma". :hammer:

I can relate to so many of these posts - it's actually quite refreshing to know that I'm not alone and people worldwide are quite ignorant and/or stupid.

Got to admit though that I have never had anyone say that the "medicine" has come out of their lenses!

What gets me is the ones who claim that they didn't do anything to their frames, then proceed to show you a frame that has a temple sticking up at a 90 degree angle. I once asked someone is their name was Yuri Geller - they didn't get it!
