    Largest PAL diameter?

I'm trying to find out if PAL manufacturers have come out with larger than 80mm blanks. I just had a customer wanting to put a progressive in a Ray-Ban (RB3293) A:67 B:50 DBL: 13 ED:72 wrap sunglasses. The only way that I can pull this off is if there are blanks larger than 82mm.
Help if you have any info.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

You may want to contact a fellow Optiboarder, Awtech. His company, Ice-Tech, may be able to help you. He has the technology to move the progressive "area" around a bit.

There are lenses like Physio that come in 80/85. 80 mm blank decentered to give a 85 effective. Usually just in CR though.

Just wondering from the old timers (LOL), what was the largest blank they made back in the 70's disco era? Those frames were truly hideous.

the largest polarized progressive available is Image in CR-39 (85, I think). I don't have the clear numbers on the top of my head. I still don't see you pulling it off w/ an ED of 72!!

I think the biggest one then was the VIP decentered with a 85mm effective diameter. Of course one problem during the disco era was all those people trying to be young and hip wearing the progressives to the black-lighted discos with the fluorescent markings standing out like a beacon.
Maybe the VIP decentered wasn't out till a bit later, but you had the Super-No-Line and Ultravue at 80mm. You still could not fit everyone.

Heh heh. the max size of a blank those days was 70 mm. In fact, while I worked for the first OD I worked for, Titmus actually brought out a huge frame that had an ED of 71mm. Now there was a problem there......
