Major reason to allow Gay Marriage

As per the commercials from "Chuck and Larry" gay marriage will allow hilarity to ensue.

    Are you against hilarity?

not to far off subject - but as for gay marriage -

i saw a ruling that just happened - a man and woman got divorced - and the wife - got a civel partnership with her girlfrind - even took her last name - and live together - as husband and wife in CA -

anyways - at the time of her seperation with her husband - he agreed to pay her alamony of some 1200 per mnth - however as we all know - once you remarry - that is out the window -

well since the state has civil unions - and with in all scope they are really married - however - it is not CALLED married - this poor guy is stuck giving his ex wife and her wife - MUCHO $$$$ - for 5 yrs -

I am not pro gay marriiage - however - i feel the govermement must address these things - when pushing thru these new laws -

    suck 4 him - ha
i think the judge should have took the "living interpretation " of the law - and said - NOPE - u are out the $ - when u signed the civil union docs - and also took her last name -

As for hillary the other night - not to impressed - however - i don't hink that Obama - will ever get elected - he seems more left then her -

does anyone know what ? # on u tube - that gradal guy confronted obama on his MONEY bundlers ? and also said that these other folks will never change anything there all the same -

i LOL so hard - at least he spiced it up a bit - wished they gave him more airtime -

If we are so concerned about the institution of marriage why do we allow divorces? I wonder if you were to take away the right to vote on a bill to allow or disallow gay marriages from couples who have been divorced, would they be allowed to marry?

VERY GOOD POINT !!!!! That would solve the problem - esp in DC - if tehy showed - along side their votes - if they had ever had an affair - or been divorced -
I would think they would be "SHAMED " by their own actions - but on the other hand they are all hipocrits anyways -

However - i would then think we would need to address the laws around MURDER !

plus there are no comedies about a couple successfully divorcing.

There are some funny movies about people unsuccessfully divorcing, however... War of the Roses comes to mind.

The US is a secular culture (i.e., we do not live in a theocracy, even if there is a pronounced Judeo-Christian slant to our culture). Therefore, gay marriage is probably something that should be legally recognized (or at least legal unions or whatever).

Even if one argues we live in a "Christian" culture, as long as our culture allows casual marriage and divorce of heterosexual couples, it is obvious our legal system does not adhere to that culture.

The movie Chuck & Larry was pretty clever, because it found a way to bring up the challenges faced by homosexual couples in a setting that is unlikely to offend only a person who is consciously determined to be homophobic.
